Flying in the 1st Tri

Hi folks

I am 8 weeks today and flying to San Fran on Thursday for an Easter break from Vancouver. I think the flight is only around 2 and half hours - anyone know whether it is safe etc to fly when in first tri?

Yes i believe they dont want you to fly in later pregnancy because of gravitational pull? Is that right if not someone correct me. We just went to visit relitives and the ride was 8 hours !ach way it was so painful and uncomfortable and the way back we had to stop 5 times for me to barf. Go comfy girlfriend!

Yeah it's fine!

I've just flown from UK-Florida, and I shall be going back in around 10 days! They only dont want you flying in 3rd tri (i think) because it wouldn't be the best situation to go into labour in the sky!

I've heard flying is less stressful for baby and momma than riding in a car.

I was wondering about this as well because I'm going on a trip the end of April with my grandmother and I'll be about 10 weeks x

In Canada you have to have a Dr. note if you are past 32 weeks to fly...I am not sure about everywhere else! I flew when I was 29 weeks and my Dr. made sure to write me a note bc I was so large and they wouldn't have believed that I was only 29 weeks! lol

babycenter says that when you are really big its not as safe because you can get blood clots in your legs from sitting too long, but thats not until late third trimester! Im leaving for Missouri on monday so I looked it up

It's definitely fine! I flew from Dubai to UK to France and back at 8 weeks and 9 weeks on the way back. My dr said it was less risky than driving.

There is a small risk of radiation exposure but this is only if you were flying every day (like an airhostess etc).

Enjoy your trip ! x
