I am no longer a smoker but my friend who is. She was smoking around the same as you before she found out she was pregnant. Once she found out she told the doctor that she was a smoker and they told her that sometimes it can be more harmful to the baby the stress that is caused from quitting smoking to actual smoking a cigerette. She is not 6 months pregnant with a baby who is healthy and growing perfectly and she is still smoking ine cigerette a day!
I used to smoke for years and quit cold turkey 2 years ago and it was very stressful for me so you just have to do what feels right for you. I know some people will look down on people who smoke when pregnant but they don't know the whole story.
Good luck with everything.

Any doctor that suggests that its more harmful to stop is basically giving the smoker an excuse to keep doing it IMO. Its like saying "Im confirming its OK to have one or two throughout your pregnancy so, you dont need to stop". If they said it is likely to harm your baby, quit now I reckon there would be less people doing it.

Well done to those who have quit!! It will get easier. You might still crave it but it only lasts minutes and then you will forget about it again. x

Wow - I've NEVER heard a doc say that and I definitely don't recommend that to my patients. Ultimately, quitting is much better than not quitting...
Yeah, I don't know if it's just UK Doctors. But, they've even said it to Celebrities who have quoted it in the news! It's quite wrong to be honest to say "Oh yeah, just cut down to 2 or 3 a day and it's fine!"

I know something that can help with quitting is finding something that makes you stop. I mean, I used to smoke and being with my Hubs makes me not smoke. He hates the smell, the taste etc. He used to complain about it and it made me want to quit (before I fell preggers). So maybe finding something that helps you quit? A distraction?
