UK Scans- how do they work??

hey
im eleven weeks tomorrow and i still dont know when my first scan will be....is it normal for them to wait till im this far to send a letter??
should i contact my doctor??
this is my first pregnacy so i dont know how it works

At 11 weeks I would expect you have already had your booking in appointment with the midwife? If so you should phone her and chase up your scan appointment. I would expect to have heard by around about 11 weeks.

You should see your midwife by 8 weeks I was told but that will depend on area. At my booking in she made a apt for scan for me. I'd ring your midwife and ask. If you haven't seen your midwife try your doc x

i've had my first midwife app who said the hospital would send me a letter saying the dates but nope

i'll give my GP a call and see whats happening

I think the first scan can be as late as 14 weeks but I would phone to check you've not been lost in the system!

I'm in the same position- 10 weeks and 4 days, No sign of scan letter. Trying to get through to my midwife now!

My midwife appears to be skiving! :O phoned her 'base' - they said she is at clinic at my doctors. Phoned doctors and she's not due in till 11:30! But they will ask her to ring me

In areas where you get the NT test, you have to have the scan between 11-13 weeks, so it will be then. In areas that don't offer the NT test, it can be as late as 16 I think.

So yeah, chase it up and see what's offered in your area.

i got my midwife appointment and scan date a few days within eachother...id defo call up and make sure your paperwork has been sent through, it might be that you can make your own appointment as soon as they get your referral.x

NT scan can be done until 13+6 so u still have time but I would phone my hospital rather than doctor. Thats what I did and they gave me the scan date there and then over the phone x
