Book Recommendation

I just have to share... My best friend gave me the funniest book about pregnancy! It is called The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Iovine.

This book is basically aimed toward first-time moms and it is written as a sort of humorous no-nonsense guide about the real in's and out's of pregnancy (the stuff that most people "forget to mention"). It covers topics like how to dress well while pregnant, the TRUTH about labor, do's and dont's, SEX, strange symptoms, body/weight issues, etc.

It is not scientific and the author has opinions, but if you aren't super sensitive to this, it is a fun, light-hearted, insightful read that was a nice reprieve from the more clinical type of books.

I LOLed so much while reading it that my OH said he wants to read it next! (She also wrote a Girlfriends' Guide to the First Year of Motherhood that I will be reading sometime in the next several months.)

Anyone else find any gems?

I've never read those!

Ina May's Guide to Childbirth is critical but not a haha book, moreso quite factual. Happiest Baby on the Block (4th trimester theory) is also an excellent read.

If any of you like Ina May, she also has a good breasteeding book.

Another one is Tina Cassidy's Birth: A History (ie. from prehistoric times to now), shows you the evolution of birth practices, hospitals, from midwifery to doctors and how it's returning back to midwifery etc... very good read.
