Brown discharge?!! Worried!

Hi everyone.

I am 6 weeks pregnant and yest when I wiped I had some light brownish discharge (Soz tmi!
I am scared something bad has happened/gonna happen. I have been having symptoms very on and off and instead of enjoying it when I feel good I get paranoid!
Has anyone else experienced this brown discharge?? I am trying not to worry as no actual blood and def nothing red. No cramps just a few pulling pains which I am putting down to stretching pain.

Sorry if this has been asked before I'm just driving myself nuts!!

Thank you
Amy xx

i had some brown discharge very early on-- at about 4 weeks. our fs said it was nothing to worry about. brown blood is supposed to be okay because it's old blood and not a fresh bleed. i know it doesn't feel anything close to normal when it's happening to you though...i was terrified! if you're really worried, call your doc. that's what they're there for!

I also had brown discharge at 6 weeks on and off for a week. I was scared and on the first scan they couldn't see a HB. I went back in 10 days and there was our baby with its little heart beating. Can u get an early scan? X

Spotting can be normal unless it's heavy and/or there's cramping involved. How much was there and how long did it last? I had a very very small amount of brown cm yesterday, but got a scan today and there was a strong heartbeat. My other miscarriages I started cramping horribly, then started spotting, and then about an hour later started bleeding. Generally if you were going to miscarry (God forbid), you most likely wouldn't have any symptoms. Are you going in for a prenatal soon? If you tell them you have been spotting they would do an ultrasound. I'm sure everythings alright, SO many women on here spot in the first tri and have healthy babies. x

Thank you for all of your quick and kind replies.
It wasn't much at all. Noticed it twice yesterday when I wiped so only lasted literally hours.
It's good to know I'm not alone and it's actually happened to others and have been successful.
Doctors not open again until Tuesday because of bank holidays but may try to speak to them then and see if I an get an early scan to put my mind at rest. Just don't want to put anyone out really if I don't need to. Would I speak to my doctor or my midwife?

I am having the exact same thing! It's been on and off for about 3 days, yesterday I got worried and went to the dr who basically said it could be something and nothing (?). The reassuring part was that he rang the EPU to check if they would recommend an early scan and he also checked with another dr. He felt my stomach and prodded around a bit - the advice I was given was to keep an eye on it, if it turned darker or included blood then to ring the surgery out of hours, if my stomach cramp moved to one side or became sharp then to go to A&E. He said that if I got a sharp pain in my shoulder then I needed to go to A&E straight away. The EPU said no need for a scan, so it settled my mind a bit. I'm 6 weeks today and have had very few symptoms apart from period-like cramps and backache. Today I've been feeling sick all day, it's the first time which is also reassuring.

I think it's a bit of a waiting game, but I feel that I worry about it more than I should. If the medics thought it was nothing to worry about then maybe I shouldn't be worrying? With this I've decided that I'm just going to enjoy each day of being pregnant, rather than worry about the next (if that's possible). I'll keep updating if things change, please let me know how you get on too. Then hopefully we can help someone else out too.

Phew, this is waaaay more stressful than I ever imagined I hope everything works out for you x

Hello I am ten weeks today. I as well had spotting and light cramping from weeks 5 to 8. I was told I had a "threatened miscarriage''.Over those weeks my hcg levels continued to rise at a good rate and At 7 weeks 3 days we had a healthy heartbeat and and 8th week the bleeding and light cramping had stopped all together. So after 1 ER trip, 3 bloodtests, 3 ultrasounds and a big pile of medical bills I am finally feeling confident we might just get out of it ok. I know its so upsetting to not know whats going on in your body but I wish you the best of luck. I searched the internet trying to find success stories so I hope this helps a little. I wish you the best of luck and the best thing you can do is relax and find a way to not stress out so much... even thought I know its near to impossible!

brown spotting is normal in early pregnancy. some women will contine to spot brown every month around the time their period is due...due to some hormone fluctuations. i spotted brown at 4 weeks for 3 days and now again for the last 3 days on and off. If your mind if jumping to MC , taylorXX's advice is similar to my experience - Bright red blood, literally oozing out of me when i went to the loo and soaking pads...i did not have cramps, but mine was super early, so the uterus did not have to contract to expel contents if this makes sense.

sounds like you did all the right things to ease your mind. now just try to keep busy, forget about it, and remember that there is a baby growing in you - your body can't possibily go on as normal, and that this is your normal for this pregnancy. hugs!
