That is a bargain! I've been thinking about buying a new pram and car seat but maybe a second hand carrycot from ebay or similar because they are often barely used and a lot cheaper than brand new.

I quite like the silver cross surf, it is expensive but you get a lot of extras that you don't seem to get at mamas and papas so I think the total cost will be similar, can't wait to go shopping and try them out, x

theres so much choice though its so hard!
I took a look at the iCandy yesterday after you posted. It's really nice so I may change my minf from the Phil and Ted's. We're going to pop into John Lewis at some point this week and take a look!

We have chosen the mothercare my4 really like it and it was on sale in mothercare, we got it on the babyplan which cost us £10 to set up but we saved £100 on the pram so we are happy with that. It is not a heavy pram, folds down quite flat and you can take the wheels off easily for more boot space. We love it.

How does the mother care baby plan work?

Im interested in the silvercross 3D and every now and then they have the car seat for free. If we set it up when its on offer do you still get the offer? Or do you loose out because you're not paying for it then and there.

I'm stuck between the Silver Cross surf and the Baby Style Oyster. My heart lies with the surf but the oyster seems better for the money... I just want something little and light that's easy to use on the school run. I think the surf will win. It's just too cute!

Anyone, I think I've decided on the iCandy cherry in fudge. Heart was set on bugaboo, but the carrycot looks crazy low down and not sure if it's for me now.

What's everyone else thinking of?
Oooo I like this thread! I've been a nanny for about 4 years now (I'm a teacher as well) and have had major pram envy ever since starting!

One thing I've learned through years of walking every day with bubs and toddlers is be sure to not buy something too wide- you can't get around properly! And not too heavy- you need to be able to get it out of the car! Buy something that will last from BIRTH to TODDLER- no point in buying something it fiddly and looks sweet but is only appropriate for when they're little. Be sure that they are easy to clean- you WILL end up with food stains at some point, babies are messy! Make sure you have rain covers and if you don't have the UV covers, you can use wraps.

I have mainly used Bugaboos and Maclaren strollers and to be honest, I think the Bugaboo is overpriced and out dated. It fell apart after being used day in and out and the brakes were not that brillliant.

Finally, don't spend money on a new pram if you don't need to!! We have been given a lot of second hand stuff and are nearly set up without having spent a cent! You will be too tired to worried about what your nursery looks like- just make sure whatever you buy or get given, it's practical for YOU. Someone mentioned the Bugaboo new baby thingo (sorry my brain is mushy!) looks too low- I thought that yesterday too, how funny!

Good luck to us ladies, can't wait for all our bubbas to arrive!

Oh and we got given a Mountain Buggy three wheeler!! Happy with that!!

I've found the surf on a website called Fruugo.co.uk for £403 but it seems too good to be true. Did post a thread to see if anyone has used or knows of the site but no replies yet.

I am not going to buy a travel system for #2. I have a petite star zia which I love and it lays flat so that will work fine for baby and a buggyboard/seat on the back for DS.
I had a Britax B Smart Plus at first and it was HORRIBLE. The brakes then failed on it do I returned it for a refund.
If I had to choose one now though I would go for a Baby style Oyster or a M&P Sola.
