Which date do i go by?

I'm 5 weeks 1 day however, I got my +opk on 26th March which was CD20, me and oh baby danced that night so i must have got pregnant then which was 16 days ago, (i got my BFP on 5th april) but my LMP was 6th March! Which date shall I go by? The night we conceived (I'm pretty sure it was this night as this is the only time we did it whilst i was ovulating) or my LMP date? even though i didnt conceive until 20 days after which would make me almost 3 weeks less than what the midwife will say i am. I've got an early scan when i'm 8 weeks 3 days, but baby could only measure 5 weeks 4 days so i might not be able to see the heartbeat!

Sorry this is a little confusing! xxx

I think they like going by LMP because sperm can live for 5-7 days after initial intercourse, so there is a major window going on there. The only way to tell with any certainty is by having a dating scan and then whatever date that is is what they tend to stick to.

I know when I ovulated but my doctors insisted on using my LMP. For me not a huge deal because I have a 31 day cycle so its only a couple days difference. At my 10 week ultrasound the baby measured exactly 10+1 which according to my LMP that day was 10+1. I am just going with that because its less confusing when I talk to my doctors.

They made notes about my ovulation and cycle length because I asked them to but they said they won't change much because the difference in time wasn't that much.

So I think use your LMP till you have a dating scan. I agree that there is a large window of time there.

Are you adding the two weeks you're technically not pregnant to the 5+4? If not, at the scan you would probably measure around 7+4. The fetal age is 5+4, but the gestational age is 7+4. I believe scans measure the gestational age. I agree, just go by your LMP until your first scan. That's what I did, and I measured 6 days ahead at my first scan, probably partly due to the fact that I O earlier than the "standard" 14 days (which is not very standard at all! lol).
