Got my scan date 14th May :(

It just seems so far away it's over a month I just know its going to drag I just wish there was a way to know bubs is ok earlier me nd OH really can't afford to lay own 65-100 pound on a private scan. I even debated lying about my dates to get one earlier but my conscience wouldn't let me do it

How far along are you?

I was also tempted to lie to get an earlier scan, it seems like so many people have had scans already, but like you I couldn't do it. But the time has passed, it seemed slow at the time but looking back it's the blink of an eye! My scan will be on Friday, at 11+5, exactly 8 weeks after my BFP.

Would you consider buying/renting a doppler (even maybe look for 2nd hand ones one ebay....they go cheap) so you could have a listen in before the scan. I had a scan yesterday and, yes, it was nice not to have to wait until 12 weeks. There is normally a reason why a person gets and early scan though and it is usually because they are unlucky and have had pain/bleeding or in my case a history of ectopics. I wish I hadn't earned my place in the early scan queue.

I'll be exactly 12 weeks by my dates I just read on here so many people have early scans or blood tests and have seen midwives by that point and I'll have nothing.
I'm going to wait till I'm about 9 weeks and try with my Doppler see what happens :/ I'm jus getting by, by taking each day at the minute.

"There is normally a reason why a person gets and early scan though and it is usually because they are unlucky and have had pain/bleeding or in my case a history of ectopics" i'm on my ipad an inserting quotes isnt easy. that's the exact reason why I couln't bring myself to lie because I couldn't take away a scan appointment from omeone who might need it more than me. I have a doppler from my last pregnancy and though I'm tempted I know it's far too early to hear anything at seven weeks.

I wonder why they don't listen for the heartbeat routinely here? Because my booking in appointment was at 9+2 so would have thought they could hear something, and it would be great for reassurance. I can't help but feel as I am high risk for miscarriage, and I have had no problems, I might have had a MMC.

I'm not envious of those who have had scares or problems getting early scans, but I am sure I have seen some people getting routine scans earlier? Maybe in different countries though?

I think the main reason they don't listen for a heartbeat in the early stages is because it's still early and if they can't find the HB then it might scare the mummy to be without good reason as it isn't easy to find in the early stages. Xx
