you definitely need to make sure you get nutrients or you'll be helpless against The Sickness and it will be way worse. the stomach pain was unbearable when i just tried not to eat. so i started with bread, saltines, etc, and that was just as bad for me. i was just getting weaker and weaker and it got harder to deal with the nausea the weaker i was. i was getting no protein or fruits/veg. if you've got a blender, toss some yogurt, fruit, spinach, and kale into it, blend very well, and drink small cups of it at even intervals throughout the day. make sure you're getting protein (nuts, fish, etc). i could NOT bring myself to eat anything besides bread, so these smoothies were my only hope. the biggest tip i can give you is to eat through the nausea, but only in small quantities. any time i eat a normal-sized meal, i want to curl up in a ball about 2 hours afterward. it's agony. i have vomit coming up my throat for hours afterward.

small meals, plenty of water (sip very slowly).

oh, and ginger ale was my savior! when nothing else could calm the tummy, it worked.

I think I'm going to buy pretzels I heard they help since they are dry I'm sure I'll digest them better and eat more veggies. The pains suck they are random like lightning all over my stomach! I am trying to eat but my stomach does not want food ): this 6 weeks hitting me hard! It's enough I'm dealing with my sciatica nerve and bad backaches hopefully these prenatals help my body!

Is there any other dry foods that help?

Hmm. You should probably have the lightning pains checked out--that could be some indigestion or irritation of your stomach lining. I've never had that--my nausea is basically a feeling of extreme fullness accompanied by acid reflux and episodes of slight vomiting. Maybe just have a chat with your Doc?

I also have awful bodyaches, although the sciatica hasn't hit me yet.

In my case, the prenatals did more damage than good. After weeks of agony, since I'm at 13 weeks now, I'm halving my dose and covering the deficit with folic-acid fortified cereals and lots more fruits and veggies. Wouldn't recommend this for anyone else, but I just can't take the pain/discomfort anymore. I know there are good prenatals out there--some are chewable, and some are by prescription. I'd give those a try if the prenatals make your stomach condition worse. I learned very quickly to take my prenatals just before bed: that way the worst part happens while I am sleeping.

Yeah i am thinking they are hunger pangs i had quite a few throughout today then again the last time ate today was at 4am! because i was so sick in stomach today. i did attempt to eat soup but was so unwell. i am feeling very hungry! and craving pretzels so bad lol maybe i just need to eat more? then again could be irritation to the prenatals.

If you're having cravings, definitely go with them! I totally understand wanting to eat dry foods too, just be careful that that's not all you eat. All the starchy carbs can add up to make ya feel awful. I really wish I had some better suggestions for you :/ One thing that helped me was protein. If I felt like having a piece of toast, I'd fry up an egg and put it on top with some salt and pepper. That way I got both the dry/absorbent and protein to keep the hunger pangs away. Same thing with crackers and peanut butter, or you could do pretzels n cheese? My hunger pangs can be KILLER. Like nothing I've ever felt in my life. Definitely act on them!

Not sure why soup would irritate you--maybe there was a spice in there that you had an objection to...?

Poor thing! Hope you get some relief.

I feel sorry for you. Mine started at 5 weeks, im now 11 and i still have mostly bad days but those wonderful rare days I feel normal.

The tricks I found were apples (sometimes all I can eat) they naturally help nausea. Fresh fruit and tinned fruit goes down well. I haven't eaten a proper hot meal since I found out i was expecting.

Try and rest up. Its so frustrating when it wakes you up in the middle of the night.

Good luck x x

Ginger! Anything with ginger helps to soothe the stomach, pregnant or not! You can get ginger in tea, candy, or even chew on fresh ginger. Also, peppermint works well, in tea, candy or whatever you can find with peppermint. Good luck, I hope one of those will work for you.

eek, the morning sickness hit me hard at 7 weeks. here's what I am doing to cope with it.

1. eat something right before bed. the foods I don't have aversions to are, apples, cereal, oatmeal, toast with butter and jam, ginger snaps, soft pretzels, rice cakes

2. sip on cold ginger ale- canada dry is made with real ginger

3. take gummy prenatels. these are available at many stores. they do not have iron in them (unless ur anemic, u do NOT need a supplemental iron in your prenatal). the gummies digest easiely and do not make you sick

4. always have food in your stomach. an empty stomach causes lower blood sugar levels which is what is causing the nausea

5. take b6 supplements

I would get the stomach pains checked out hun, I do not think that is normal.

P.S. dont worry about getting nutrients for the baby through your diet just yet. make sure you are eating SOMETHING, whether it is healthy or not. it is more important to get something into your body rather than nothing at all. the baby will be OK. get through the nausea hump, then you can fine tune ur diet later. whatever you are craving is fine. you can eat what your body is telling you to now.
