Advice needed if possible

Hi,

I lurked on this site quite a lot when I was pregnant with my daughter 14 months ago and I am now pregnant again and strongly needing some advice.

My partner and I werent trying for another baby so soon and was a shock to realise I was pregnant when we did our test. The problem I am having is I went to doctors today and tbh he didnt set my mind at ease with anything, I am about 8 weeks along but the problem I have is that having had few personnel issues I was on amitriptyline 10mg to help me sleep at night but I had also been taking cocodomol and ibuprofen on strong doses for a bad back due to heavy lifting at work. I asked the doctor what damage I might have inflicted on the baby as all this happened for the first 6 weeks I was pregnant but all he could tell me was that amitriptyline and cocodomol are "regular" drugs that shouldnt have affected the baby but he never said anything about the Ibuprofen, he just tried getting us out door asap.

We have looked online for information but just keep panicking more that I have done damage and wont know til he/she is born.

I guess I am asking if anyone else has had problems like this and everything has turned out alright, or if there is anyway I could know for sure everything will be alright?

Thanks for getting through this kinda confusing post

first off congratulations and secondly i am shocked just how commonplace rude doctors or midwives are! your doctor was rude and unhelpfull to not answer your questions for you. all i can advise is wait until your first appointment with the midwife and discuss your fears with her hopefully she will be able to answer all your questions for you. with my first pregnancy i did not know until i was nearly 3 months and i was worried like you that i had done some harm with things i had done and taken thankfully my ds was healthy. i wish you a happy healthy pregnancy try not to worry too much xx

From what I've read it increases the risk of miscarriage and is not recommended, here is the NHS advice

http://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2398.asp...CategoryID=129

It also says not to worry if you've been using it But to stop once you know you're pregnant. If you're worried, check to see if there is another dr you can see. Sorry I can't give much advice as I'm not a medic but remember there are lots of horror stories online!

Xx
