lighter lines at 8 weeks

Hey ladies. Well stupid me decided to randomly take another test today (Im 8+3) and got a lighter test line than I did with a test I took at 5+3 (same brand and batch of test). Anyone have any experience of this? xxx

Your urine could have been diluted, you could have a dodgy test - anything hon!

Yep and i rang the early pregnancy unit at my local hospital and spoke to a staff nurse she said i can happen as the pregnancy moves on because the hormones are settling down, if in doubt ring your local early pregnancy unit i find they are very good at reassuring. personally i wouldn't worry i'm sure it'll be fine, hope this helps x

I have one more test left so Im gonna wait a couple of days and take it. If its lighter than the one I took today Im gonna take them and show the midwife at my booking in appointment on wednesday. I dont think it would be enough to get her to arrange an early scan though. Just feeling really negative about the pregnancy now. I know that there is nothing that can be done if I am going to miscarry, its just the waiting. I have my 12 week scan on 9th May and Im kinda dreading it now when I was really looking forward to it before I took that stupid test. Im such an idiot

When the HCG in your urine gets high enough it can lead to fainter and even negative tests, try not to worry hun

I think as you get further along and your HCG levels go really high it can lead to strange results! That's why clearblue digital tests cant be used after 8 weeks I dont think! Dont worry

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Im still getting all my symptoms so Im sure all is ok, but it just puts that shadow of doubt in my mind. Im kicking myself for taking it. I dont know what possesed me! xxx

this is called the hook effect, google it for reassurance

its when your hormone levels r so high the test comes out lighter, dilute your wee with a bit of water when you take the next test, should be dark! don't worry its normal

WSS^^^! Some women have tested at like 20 weeks pregnant and got a BFN! It's called the hook effect. Some women can have a positive hpt their whole pregnancy, while others can't. There's a girl on here that had a bfn at 12 weeks, but was pregnant. xx

I had some brown spotting yesterday and done another preg test and a line came up straight away, it was dark but not as dark as the control line which they we're when i tested at 6 weeks. The spotting has stopped now and i'm still feeling sick lol.

If you've no bleeding etc i wouldn't worry hun. x
