cold sore treatments?

I've suffered from cold sores for about 8 years now, but since I started taking my prenatals (about 3-4 weeks ago) I've had two and another one is coming on now! Obviously I'm not going to stop my prenatals. Anybody know what is SAFE to use during pregnancy? I used to take lysine pills and use tea tree oil, and neither one of these things are safe for pregnancy. I just have the feeling I'm going to be one big cold sore my whole pregnancy! They hurt and are embarassing. Abreva doesn't really work for me either.

I found those on Amazon this morning but I wasn't sure if they would work or not! I'll have to order some for the next cold sore as this one is already past that point. Just using ice now.

hi the only thing that works amazing for me is this stuff called Releve...its at walmart and its a tiny little bottle that costs 20 bucks. I put it on like every hour when i feel it coming on and it zaps it. you can barely tell its there and doesnt get all gross and scabby and blistery

I don't think thE compete patches work. Can you get Zovirax where you are? Did they start when you started taking the prenatals? Was just thinking perhaps you are getting too much of somethings thats causing them.

I suffer from cold sores and haven't found anything that gets rid if them, I've tried Zovirax, Compeed, tea tree etc.
To be honest I just leave them until it goes itself, just make sure you don't touch them with you fingers as you can spread the infection.
Hope it goes quickly for you x

I've currently got a cold sore and to be honest I have decided to let it run its course. I don't find the compeed patches work for me and don't really want to use zovirax as wasn't sure how safe it was. Mines been there for a week now but is finally going.

The minute I feel one coming I use Zovirax on the sure and blisttex relief cream on the rest of my lips to try and contain the virus. Then at night I use the compede patches. I think the trick is to catch it early which isn't always easy...

On what basis are you saying this? I take lysene and use tea tree every day and my doctor said it was fine.
