Glad I ran across this thread, I am thinking I should probably quit smoking too. OH "says" he'll quit with me, but really he'll just smoke at work and smoke when I'm at work. I'm hoping to just cut back gradually over the next two weeks so it's not so hard when I can't light up that cigarette when I get out of bed.

I just quit cold turkey. There's no such thing as cutting down. Throw out all your cigarettes and just tell yourself today is the day. No more smoking. It's not easy but you can make it through. After the first 3 days you wont have physical cravings anymore. GL

Hey there, I started smoking when I was 13 also and I'm now 24. So a little while. When I got my surprise bfp I decided that I had to quit. I cut down to the least I could handle a day (which was about 3) and have been seen by the smoking cessation team on my midwifed referral.

I was using an ecig myself and found that to be super helpful as it retained the habit of smoking, the feel of it and I used low nicotine fluid do still got 'my fix' but when I mentioned this to my smoking advisor she was less than impressed I was using that.

She gave me a lecture on how they haven't been tested in pregnant women so the effects are unknown and how she refused to see me and chart my progress which she would note with my midwife and consultants of I didn't use the conventional NRT.

So here I am, I've been a week non smoking at all now, I feel great but I still need nicotine to calm the cravings. I was given the inhalator and honestly, I hate it. It tastes horrid and leaves almost like a scratchy sensation on my throat which makes me cough. She wanted me to use 12 of the cartridge refil packs a day too where as I was using the ecig like 3 times a day? So I've stuck on my ecig and shan't be telling her.

Sorry for the wall of text, but thats my experience so far!

I will let you know at the end of the week with the outcome. Imalready feeling positive as I've only had one today and haven't fancied any since, even though going shopping stressed me out big time ha ha. Xx

Good Luck hun, when i was pregnant i used the nicorette spray which is really good and also the inhaler, booots own version, it was ok, next time im going to the docs and im going to get everything on offer! apparently not much will harm the baby as the NRT have less Nicotine, tar etc in them than a cigarette does, but they dont taste as half as good lol xxx

Im hoping that once ive cut out my morning one then that will be it Just thinking some NRT may help me with a little boost! Don't worry hun i know how you meant it, i had a mc in January, which has given me more motivation this time to give up. Just two weeks left and in out of the 'danger zone'. Sorry to hear about your loss hun, hopefully next time you will have a smooth pregnancy xx
