Bleeding (Clotting) week 5

My partner is around 5 weeks pregnant and over the past week she has been spotting / bleeding. For a couple of days the blood was still present but it was brown and appearing in underwear. Tonight she was in the toilet and had some clotting as well as bleeding... I am a little bit worried but reading some of these threads it appears that it can be normal in the course of a regular pregnancy. I am just wondering if anyone has experienced the same issues - as I am a little bit nervous about things. We have an appointment to visit her doctor next Monday, I just hope everything is going to be ok as we are both really looking forward to this :/
Thanks

It's probably best to get it checked out as soon as possible. It's hard to tell without looking at beta hcg levels (if they double in 48 hours) and an ultrasound to see if they can see anything. Best of luck!

i'd say it would be best to call your doctor and let them know ... i ended up going to ER last thursday as i was concerned about spotting/bleeding and they were so helpful, they are there to help you through and put your minds at rest. i hope ye have a happy and healthy pregnancy ... and keep us posted

Altough spotting and bleeding is very common in 1st tri for many this has never been my case. Every time I started bleeding it ended up in a miscarriage.

I really hope everything goes well for you, mom and beanie but I would say get her checked ASAP, it is better to be sure

Hi, Im sorry you and your partner are going through this. spotting in pregnancy can be very normal, usually if it is light pinkish or brown in color with no cramping. when it is red and with clots, it can be a cause of concern. I do not want to scare you, but I can only share my experience with you to help you in your situation. I had three chemical pregnancies, and they all started with brown spotting for a few days then suddenly got heavier with blood and clotting...all around 5 weeks. my only advice to you is to have your partner's HCG levels checked out with her doctor (even a primary can check this). I wish you the best of luck, hang in there and stay positive.

Ps. if it turns out to be a chemical, the good news is, you can start trying to conceive again in two weeks (day 10 of your partner's cycle). some OB's say to wait a cycle, but this is not true. you can start right away after (and only after) a chemical pregnancy

Hi,

brown bleeding and light red blood is very common and often nothing to worry about but (i really dont want to scare you) i started having cramps and then brown blood which turned red with clots, had an emergency scan and told them i had had clots etc they looked concerned, a day later i miscarried, your better off just going straight to your early pregnanyc unit and asking them for an Ultrasound, best of luck xxx
