Pregnancy worries

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but need some support please! I'm 37 and just found out I'm pg with my 3rd. My first son who is now 4 was conceived with the aid of IUI and was born with Down syndrome. Totally unexpected and as I was 34 the docs said I didn't need any tests. I conceived naturally 4 months after giving birth to him and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Now being pg again and it being a shock, I'm 7 weeks, I want to have a cvs test, but I am so scared.
Thoughts please!!

Testing is of course a personal choice.
I have a friend who's daughter was born with DS and she was only 27 yrs old at the time. So it doesn't just have to do with age.
I am 39 yrs old and I choose not to do any testing aside from ultrasounds. It's not because I am oppoised to testing, it was just because it wasn't for me.
I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do ( hug)

Welcome, Littlepaws.

I've started looking into cvs testing, and both my doc and my OH's father, who is an MD, were quite encouraging about it with one main bit of advice: Find someone with the known expertise. I am fortunate to live in a major metropolitan area where there is a guy who has performed 20,000 of these, so I am thinking we'll be seeking him out.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

I was supposed to go for CVS testing last Thursday, but then we found out about Verifi testing. It's a non-invasive blood test with 99% accuracy for testing for Downs, which is my main concern being 40 and pregnant for the first time. If anything comes back with a chance of Downs, then we'll go through CVS testing to confirm (we'll still be in the CVS testing window).

Good luck to you! I hope all goes well for you.
