Can you get a TB test while pregnant?

A man that frequents my husbands work just got diagnosed with a active version of Tuberculosis and is now hospitalized until he is better. I am having my husband get tested tommorow since I want to make sure that he is fine since he has spent a lot of time around the work place and used the same facilities as this man. I also now want to get tested to be on the safe side. I was tested about 6 years ago and came back negative but I feel like I should get it done to be on the safe side.

What does anyone know about this??

Yes. At my first Doctor's appointment they gave me a TB test. I guess it is standard procedure at their office

My son and I had it done when he was 6 months old. I can't see why the test would be unsafe during pregnancy.

Yes the PPD skin test is safe in pregnancy. You can also ask for a Quantiferon Gold blood test for TB as well if you don't want to come back in 72 hours for someone to check for a skin reaction.

Yes. I had one done when I started working a new job. I had just found out the week before I was pregnant and the lady that did my TB test said it was fine.

Yep-- my midwife requires that everyone get one!

I wouldn't see why not. I've gotten the skin test to see if I've been exposed to it while pregnant. The only problem I have is the annoyance of having to go back 72 hours later to get checked.
