is my carpet burn getting infected??help!!

i have deep carpet burn on my left knee. i fell over yesterday trying to get away from a wasp and landed with all my weight on my left knee. baby is fine but im worried it might be getting infected!

i REALLY dont want to take oral antibiotics unless i really have to. does anyone know what the signs are if carpet/rug burn is getting infected?

i know for other things like cuts etc that redness and heat are a sign but is it the same for a burn?

right now its very hot around the wound, regardless of the face that i have a fan on it and its also very red around it too. there isnt any puss, however there are slight wet parts/clear liquid coming from small parts of it.

sorry for TMI!

if anyone can help, would be much appreciated!

Sorry to hear you had a fall, damn wasps! Infection is rather unlikely as long as you disinfect the wound immediately. Also, try not to put band-aid, let it dry up instead. Go get checked out if it persists being hot, oozes liquid or if any puss appears. Better safe than sorry.

yeah ive been keeping it clean and kept it open to the air and its pretty much completely scabbed over during the night, its just the edges that still gave to heal n the redness n heat that are making me worry.

thanks!!!

If its scabbing thats a good sign. If it gets itchy thats normally a good sign too but the only way to be sure its not getting infected is to go to docs as obviously we cant see it.

I think most injuries like that you can basically clear up with disinfectant even if it does get a little bit infected. Just make sure you keep it dry and disinfect it occasionally.
