Animal Behaviour

Has anyone had their pets act strangely since becoming pregnant? I thought it weird our dog (black lab) followed me around and wouldn't let me out of his sight. It's especially annoying when I sit to pee and he comes in sniffing and bumping his nose on my boobs. I'm constantly shouting him out of the bathroom as soon as he bonks his way in.

It's been bothering me more and more as I'm paranoid with this pregnancy. My last one ended in a miscarriage, the beginning of it happening while at my IL's I suspect. Their dog wasn't especially affectionate to anyone, but he slept with me all night and in my lap all day and acted very depressed for the week that we were there. A week later we lost the baby at 11 weeks.

Odin (my dog) doesn't seem depressed or anxious, just clingy and needing reassurance quite a bit. The cat, however, couldn't give a shit.

We have 3 dogs. 2 females and 1 male. The 2 females will not leave me alone. Hubby and I call them my stalkers. I cannot walk from one room to the next without being followed. The barge in the bathroom just like you describe. They lay right under my feet. Getting up from the couch or a chair is a real pain in the butt because they are always there! One of them is staring at me as I type this! I think they sense the pregnancy and are just protecting me. Don't worry hun. Everything is ok

I have 4 cats and they have all become sooooo affectionate with me since I got pregnant, its the hormones somehow makes them all clingy.. it's quite annoying sometimes specially when I am melting from the heat.. but quite funny most of the time !

No need to be paranoid about a M/C I do not think it has anything to do with your doggy *hug*

There is no odor detecting technology invented that can compare to a dog's nose. Dogs can sense things that we're not aware of - they probably smelled a change in you within days of conception. On top of that, they've been bred over thousands of years to be tuned in to humans' emotional states. If you're pregnant and have suffered a loss, the dogs are sure to pick up on your anxiety. I think you're lucky to have such loyal companions.

Aww that's cute.
I have 2 dogs. One who's too lazy to care, I'd be lucky if he got off the sofa to sniff me and one who's too hyper, she has more important things to be doing than sniffing prgnant ladies I.e. Chewing shoes, jumping all over everyone, tormenting the cats.
If anything were to go wrong at any point in your pregnancy (god forbid) I think you'll know, doggy will sense it straight away. Seems like he's gonna be a god send when LO is born too.

My cat follows me round like a dog, from the moment I get in the house, when i go to the bathroom she scraps the door if I don't let her in. She isn't allowed in our bedroom so she lays on a towel outside the door patiently waiting for me to come out, so DH keeps tripping up on her when he's half asleep and goes to the bathroom lol. As usual sHe is sat next to me right now xxx

This is freaky! I was just thinking this today... my cat has become more clingy then ever. She will even come and snuggle under my arm in bed, which she has never done before and ditto for the following me into the toilet thing....

I love having her around, but I'm a bit concerned she's going to take the arrival of the baby very very badly now!

I have 2 cats and they are so damn clingy now! The desexed male is by my side constantly! The female is bad but not quite as full on as the boy. Cant go to the bathroom without them scratching on the door or letting themselves in. Even the shower!!
