OOWWEE wisdom tooth!

ARGH my tooth! I'm in agony! It's my wisdom tooth, it started coming through about a year ago and then just stopped...it's decided to start coming through again and my god it hurts so much that side of my face is slightly swollen and although I can still eat and speak etc it just feels like a mess in there! Don't mean to be disgusting but there's a bit of gum flapping about and then down the side of my gums it feels all hard and tight...obviusly the dentist is a good idea but what can they do? I hear they can't do too much dental work to pregnant ladies?

I had the same thing last week! Went to the doctors they numbed my mouth and cut open my gums to make room for the wisdom tooth. Then got tablets to make it feel better. Am all fixed now so i suggest dentist :-)

Omg I'm having the exact same thing right now hurts so much should have had them out like over ten years ago but didn't. My gf had the same thing while pregnant how odd. I know dentists out here won't take them out while your pregnant because of the meds you need during and after. I have been taking regular strength tylenol which I hate to but the pain is too much for me

i had a wisdom tooth extracted when i was about 16 weeks pregnant. babies are just fine. until you get some dental work done...use clove oil (oil of clove). i got it at the pharmacy for next to nothing. tylenol did nothing for my pain. the clove oil taste/smells bad but you get instant relief when you put it on. i just wet a cotton ball with the oil and placed it on my sore tooth for 30 seconds or so and the relief lasts for hours before you need to reapply it. nothing worse than a toothache...good luck!

Just one? Eh, you're lucky, I had all 4 come through at the same time. I don't think you need it taken out if there is nothing wrong with it, other than its coming thru and hurting. Its supposed to hurt, its cutting a gum I still have all 4 of mine with no problems.

To be honest there's nothing the dentist can do to make them come thru any faster, you just gotta suck it up and let them rupture the gum. (like babies have to!) That flappy bit is normal, it will shrink down.

Just take some painkillers and I used bonjella (Check with the chemist that it is safe to use in pregnancy) and sucked on a lot of ice lollies. You can apply ice to the outside of your face to help with the swelling.

If you start to get a fever or anything then go to your dentist as it might be infected or impacted.

I would go to the dentist and have him check it out. If it is just coming through, then theres nothing much they can do. But I would definitely check - since it seems REALLY painful, it might be an infection. When all 4 of mine started coming in, they swelled a bit but didn't hurt so much I needed to take painkillers. (But then when I got them all removed at the same time, I sure did!!!) But dentists can do work while pg depending what it is. Hope it feels better soon!
