Feotal Anomaly Scan at 17 weeks

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well.

Just a quick question. I had my 12 week scan on 6th July. It showed me as being 12 weeks 5 days.

I have now had my next appointment made for what should be my 20 week scan but I will actually only be 17 weeks. Should I rebook?

I would love to find out the gender as my partner is currently serving in Afghanistan and would love to let him know the gender of his first child.

I'm confused why they have booked me so early??

I thought the anomaly scan normally takes place within 18-22 weeks so 17 does seem a little early. I guess you could always rebook for the following week or the week after.

Thanks Sharan.

You dont think they've booked me early because they think something is wrong?
Did you book your 20 week scan or did they send you a letter like they have me?

Thank you for your help.

No it definitely says on the top of the letter US Obstetric Foetal Anomaly scan.

I'm wondering if they have my dates wrong........or hoping should I say.

If they suspected anything then they would have mentioned it at your earlier scan. My one was booked at the ultrasound clinic after I finished my 12wk scan. She booked the day herself and gave me an appointment card which stated it was 20 wk scan. So I'm guessing my local hospital arrange it at 20 wks.

Oh right.
Did they give you a reason for that moomoo?

Thanks Sharan. When I left after my 12 week scan the other day the lady did say to me that they would send me a letter with my next appointment for 20 week scan and they've booked me this xx

I got a scan at 17+4 and the doctor could already look for almost everything there. The only thing he said is that the heart isn't completely formed at this point yet, but I'll have my next scan at 23 wks, and they should be able to look at it then.

Normally, they can already tell the sex at this point. My LO kept her legs closed all the way through, but the doctor managed to poke long enough to say that it's 90% girl. It has been confirmed last week.
