Subchorionic Hematoma?? Strict Bed Rest...

Has anyone gone through this before? I am 15 weeks pregnant with my second child. My doctor said that I have a blood clot 3.5 cm by 5 cm by my after birth...which has cause the bleeding that Ive had for the past 6 weeks. Finally today he diagnosed it as this. And he put me on strict bed rest. I can only get up to use the bathroom. Now this is very hard to do as a stay at home mom with a one year old to look after. Has anyone else ever gone through this or have any advice to offer? What did you do on bed rest? What are the limits? Thank you ahead of time!

First off, I'm really sorry to hear that. It never feels good to hear that there is a complication with your pregnancy.
Do you have help? Can you afford help? There isn't much you CAN do, you need to follow the doctors orders. Did he say for how long?
I was on bed rest over last Christmas with Betty, but I didn't have another child to worry about. I watched ALOT of tv, read alot of books.
Maybe you could hire on some older teenagers to help while OH is at work, so you'd be there for guidance, but someone else could do the heavy lifting, and they'd be affordable (if thats an issue, anyway).
I don't know anything about your condition, but I'm sure it will all work itself out.
Keep me posted?

I had this in the beginning of my pregnancy. It caused me to bleed at 4 weeks of pregnancy and then at my 8 week ultrasound I was put on strict bed rest as well. Rest is surely the only thing that is going to cure this. If you can, have someone look after your young child, and STAY in bed. My clot thankfully passed and there is hope yours will as well. Drink tons of water/don't lift anything/stand on your feet too long/have sex/get emotionally worked up. If you do what the doctor asks you then I believe the clot with pass within time.

Hope all goes well for you and bubz!

It will work out. Just try and relax as much as you can, okay? At least no one is telling you that its for the rest of your pregnancy.

Really feel for you, I know Id be going barmy if I was told I needed to be on bed rest with a 5yr old, dogs and horses to see too.
Do you have any relatives who could come and stay with you for the next two weeks? Even any who could pop in several times a day to help with preparing meals, housework etc. Do you have a partner who could take time off work or cut down on hours for a few weeks? Maybe see if there are any daycare centres/childminders in your area who could have your 1yr old during the day if there is noone else to help during those times. I know that is rough but you must follow the bed rest.
Wishing you all the best.

In case you haven't already found it.

A great group of girls who know exactly what you're going through!

All I can suggest is to take the advice on the bed rest. It really does seem to make a massive difference. I had a huge bleed at 9wk, clots the lot, and while I was never diagnosed with an Sch, I do believe it was one, thankfully by my 13wk scan the blood that was left in my womb had done a combination of bleed out through spotting and been reabsorbed. But I put myself on bed rest for that 4wk period.

Worried and concerned

Hi, my history is that at 5 weeks I had a car crash at 50mph into the back of someone, that night I had light spotting then again a couple of days after. scanned a couple of days after and no problems baby fine, heart beat present.

One month later to the day I bleed again, small spotting no pain. visit a&e and have scan next day, no problem again no reason for bleeding, 2 days later spot again. Seen by EPU and scanned again, this time they find a small haematoma 295mm x 6.5, no further measurement given. Told that it would cause brown discharge and not attached to placenta. I have only had red discharge, no advice on bed rest etc and i am a nurse which involves lifting etc told that it wasnt anything to worry about and would be reassessed in 12 week scan. I am presently 10weeks and 5 days but my scan isnt until 12 and 5 days,.

I have had no further bleeding ot spotting and I was told that it would probably reabsorb. Still worried though as I do not want to loose this baby. Should I be resting as I am still working nights 3-4 a week. Have good strong pregnancy symptoms, feel sick all the time. Have consultant appointment nexxt wednesday as have complicated diabetic pregnancies.

Any comments grateful

hello this post flagged up to me as i have been obsessing about this since my 8 week scan where they found an area of bleed, i am now on a consultant led pregnancy and the clot has continued to grow to quite some size, however NO ONE has told me to rest, not bed rest or even take it easy, i lead a busy life and i still carry around my neice and life my son up into his cabin bed etc and rush around doing housework and even have sex as no one has told me otherwise, im going back on weds for another scan as not had one for about a month so i will be posting on SCH site and letting everyone know how it goes (hopefully see a decrease). If thats what your doctor has advised its best you do that but i have exactly the same thing and they have said nothing (i know different areas suggest different things) Good luck and just try and take it easy.........xxx
