Holy Sciatic pain!!!

I had posted a thread similar to this one for child care workers but wanted a few more opinions....My sciatic nerve is KILLING me! I hobble around all day and by the end of the work day I can hardly walk at all. I work with toddlers so its a lot of lifting and up and down. I was planning on working til may 1st (36weeks) but I dont think I can make it!!! Anyone else have bad sciatic pain? are u giving up work yet?

Hey Hun. I've started to get pain which seems to be consistent with sciatica the last week or so. If I sit for any length of time I get pain down my legs from my hips, and I find walking any amount a bit sore too. Nothing major yet, but if it develops into anything more substantial then I'm going to have trouble at work. Really hope it doesn't as I only went back to work after my daughter at the start of December, and I don't want to be seen as that girl who is either off on maternity leave, or winging about her pregnancy and/or going off on sick leave because of it! Hoping to work to 36 weeks.

Never had anything like this with my first pregnancy. Developed a varicose vein the other day too! Second pregnancy definitely more eventful than the last!

I feel your pain with both my girls I had this but after my 2nd it never got better now with this baby my legs go numb. I got these heat pad things that are gel then you pop this little mettal thing in it it gets really hot for like an hr then it will harden then you just boil it (can also do this in the microwave) and put it on your back threw out the day

I have had that on and off pre-pregnancy, and almost all the time now. I don't work in child care, but I am on my feet all day with a fair amount of lifting, up to 60 lbs, so I know how you feel.
The only things that help me are heat, like a hot pad or hot shower on my sacrum when I get home, and at work, if I squat it helps. Not all the way, just like you were sitting on a chair, if that makes sense. It seems to pull some muscles in such a way that the pain eases for a while.

I had it slightly pre pregnancy but now its taken over most things i do :-\
During the day i have trouble walking and running round after my two year old is getting harder, at night its worse in bed trying to move or roll over, i look like im 80 yrs old trying to get up if i have been sat for more than half an hour!!
I will def try some heat pads tho and hope it goes once my baby is born.......fingers crossed xx
