Any other Hubby/partners not taking paternity leave?

Hey!

I'm not really looking for advice just wondered if anyone else was in a similarish situation?

We are due on the 24th. My DHs company shuts between the 24th December and the 1st of January. So the initial week after my due date is covered. He is then going to take a weeks holiday which roughly works out as 2 weeks post due date. From there my Dad has taken 2 weeks holiday and will be with me for 2 weeks, which takes me to four weeks post due date. If i go two weeks over due, i'll at least have someone with me for 2 weeks. If we drop before my due date DH has said he will come home and his company will have to deal with it.

We just can't afford for my hubby to take any paternity leave. His company does not offer any paternity benefits so it would be the statutory amount and we just can't afford it! . I don't really need any advice, it is what it is, I just wondered if anyone else was in a similar situation? .

DH isn't taking the official paternity leave because we would lose out on too much money and we really can't afford that.

He has arranged with his boss that he will take two weeks holiday instead and the company had been pretty flexible so it starts once I go into labour. We did this last time as well and it worked great because it meant that he didn't miss any time with LO but also didn't lose the money.

My hubby isnt going to take full paternity pay as it is too much hassle with his work so he is going to take 7 days annual leave and just 3 days paternity. We have an appointment when I am 28 weeks with consultant when we will hopefully get my csection date.

My OH would only get Stat Paternity pas as well so he is talking about taking leave instead he's also talking abut just having a week which im not happy about, i've said your legally entitled to 2 weeks so your taking 2 weeks we ca take the financial hit if need be, i need him there for those 2 weeks but he's a chef and of course December is the busiest time for work do's and what not and he doesn't want to leave then short staffed but i dont care, it's not his business and quite frankly he doens't get paid or respected nearly enough to care.

This discussion is ongoing ha ha

You are not alone, my husband saved a week of his vacation time for when our baby is born. We are lucky his company will let him just take a week whenever she comes we are due at the end of October. Now if he worked for my company he would just get 2 paid weeks home with us, but he does not...

I am not bothered, I am sure I will be surrounded by people if I need them as this is my husband's families first grandchild and they are over the moon!!

Good luck to you!!

I'm not sure if it's viable but they allow 10 keep in touch days with some company's. Maybe if your oh sugests it to his company they may still pay him xx

Def not alone! Hubby plans to take 3-4 days off then the weekend. Then go back. We can't afford extra time either. But my parents and his mom and step dad are local as well as my sister in law is a stay at home mom who will help out.

I am sure my hubby will take a week off after birth. No plans of paternity. His company does offer it but he will be heading back to work.

Hi my husband is self employed so get nothing. We have been saving a little each month so that he can take a week off when little one comes. Although I really think that they could upping the amount they do give as its a bit on the rubbish side xx
