How much/what kind of food should be served at a 1/2:00 baby shower?
This shower will be very laid back and is just going to be me and my friends. (Family shower will be separate.) If the shower is at 1 or 2 do I need to just have snacks out, or should it be served more like lunch? I have all the deserts and everything figured out, but food is really stumping me. If anyone could give some ideas for food options, that would be great! This is a really low budget and laid back shower so I dont want to spend more than I have to.
For desert I am serving:
Pink coconut cupcakes http://www.pinterest.com/pin/56928382763191251/, and pink wafer cookies dipped in pink and white chocolate. In the party favors bag there will be cookies and pink and white iced animal crackers along with some other non food items.
If it's at one, I would consider serving food unless you state that they need to eat lunch before the shower. You don't want them coming in thinking that it's around lunch time so they will have food to eat.
I had my dad bbq some boston butts and put chips and dip out. It was simple, cheap, but a meal.
whatever you are serving just add it to the invites ie: Snacks + treats will be served or Lunch + snacks + treats will be served I just did a lot of finger foods and a cake/sweets but if its around the nicer weather why not just do simple hotdogs and hamburgers? You can never go wrong with them lol! (if you want to serve lunch too that is lol)
I think some finger sandwiches, chips, that kind of thing would be sufficient. I wouldn't worry about having a full meal, but like others have said because around 1:00 is still lunch time for some, I would have some savory items, a little more filling available.
I love the pink coconut cupcake! That will be so precious!
I wouldn't do a meal, just a small buffet - quiche, salad, sausage rolls, sandwiches, crisps etc just cold savoury things that you don't have to serve everyone at the same time, not too expensive and people can just choose what they want.
I would probably have a plate of sandwiches, some crisps, biscuits/cakes chocolates/sweets and drinks .... maybe some things like little sausage rolls or something. It's what I would usually get for whenever we had parties with my friends and their toddlers.... And just set it up like a buffet.
That way if people are hungry they can eat more substantial things like the sandwiches and if they've already had their lunch beforehand they can just snack on the little things.
