Why do babies smell so damn good?!

Ok that sounded creepy but they really do! They have that awesome 'baby smell' about them.

Why is that? you'd think itd be the complete opposite having spent 9 months in mummy's tummy!

My MIL is always sniffing my baby, especially just after he has had a bath lol

I didn't use any products on him until he was about 4 weeks but he still had a lush baby smell......yummy xx

Just as an aside, they have done studies that show that babies actually secrete a particular sebum in the un-fused parts of the skull that, in turn, causes the mother to produce certain hormones that assist with the let down reflex in breastfeeding- isn't that incredible! We're actually hard-wired to sniff babies heads!

I read about it in this feminist physiology book called Woman by Natalie Angier...amazing stuff really!

Im thinking its because they havent been tainted with years of carbon emission fumes, late nights, smoking & eating dodgy kebabs...babies smell nice and pure. Just give it a few years..x
