Good News, Bad News, Worst News

Good News -

AFP test came back negative.
Baby is growing fine and as far as the ultrasound, has no physical defects.

Bad News -

I have a low-lying placenta, but they said it hardly covers the cervix, it only covers a margin of it.
(And I just had sex yesterday, and had no severe bleeding. So, should I still abstain?)
At least I get to have another ultrasound in January :/

Worst News -

I have the HPV virus, and if it doesn't clear up after 3 months after delivery,
I'll have to go into further treatment. Even worse, if its untreated, or develops further, I will develop cervical cancer.
The doctor said that things like this come out during pregnancy and usually subside after.
Let's just hope that that's the case.

Well, I'm happy my little boy is okay,
not to happy about possibly having to abstain,
but my ultrasound was last week, and I had sex twice yesterday,
and no hemorrhaging,
so I hope that its going to fix itself.
I don't want to have a C-Section ):

I was told years ago that I have HPV but have had 3 doctors tell me no treatment was necessary and it just meant I needed to make sure I get regular pap smears. I would get a 2nd opinion before undergoing treatment for it. There is no cure for the virus itself, they can only remove the warts caused by it. I've read several places that 80% of women under age 50 carry the virus but most don't realize it. From what I've read, the risk of it causing cancer totally depends on the type of HPV you have. Some types are high risk and some aren't. Even among the high risk types, cancer is still a small risk.

I really wouldn't stress over it too much at all. For most people your immune system deals with it pretty well.

I'm thinking about making a complaint towards the medical assistant,
she told me about the HPV before the doctor even came into the room to explain it.
She made it sound as if I was going to die or something,
but when he came in, he at least calmed me down a bit.

I can't help but feel depressed though.
I don't know why this would happen to me so young,
I hope everything is fine.

I just wish it had never come up in the first place.

Im glad to hear that baby is okay.
On the HPV, what you may not realize is there are about a dozen forms of them. some cause cancer some cause genital warts. If you get the warts they have to burn them off. Which I had with my first son.
I found out when I was 17.
Do your research on this find out what type of HPV and ask alot of questions.
One thing that should be reasuring is you are not alone 1 in like 4 people (male and female have some form of HPV) and most of them dont know they are carriers especially men. You at least know and can plan.
If you need to talk message me I would be more than happy to talk

I second this. Was diagnosed with it when I was 19, had one ''breakout'' of it at that time, which they treated, and was then told the same as Honeygrl wrote above. It is not a cancer sentence so try not to regard it that way. As Honeygrl said, it is unbelievably common and many, many women are carriers of it. I have not had any more issues with it since I was a teenager, and it does depend on the strain of it, whether it has the potential to become cancerous or not. It's just one of those things, like breast checks, that you need to do regularly. Get a pap smear once a year and forge ahead with optimism and confidence.

Lol no you won't die and yeah some types of HPV *might* cause cancer, they will run tests. Removing abnormal cells (that is if you need them removed after tests) takes five minutes, not painful as they give you something for pain and heals quick. You can go for years without any treatment and it won't develop into anything. Just need to monitor. Love those doctors who scare the hell out of people.

I had an obgyn once when I was 18 and my period was a week late and I had cramps like my period is about to start (it was a brutal winter so I think this was it) -- you know what she said: you definitely have an ectopic pregnancy and we need to remove the tube. I got so hysterical, my period started right there. How did this woman survive in her job I'll never know. Needless to say, I've never seen her again

I have been panicking but trying not to as i had a smear done and i have to go for a colposcopy to see what the abnormal cells are, but i wont be having that done till 2 january. I want to get it over with now though so i know thats going on down there, but i have a feeling im going to need yearly tests to keep an eye on things after all the tests are done. As much as its scary i don know it cant be too bad as they allow lots of women to carry their babies still and do treatment if needed after baby is born. Thats my reassurance at the mo.
