Can too many ultrasounds be dangerous?:(

Someone is telling me that it can be harmful to your baby to have too many ultrasounds and now I am so worried!

I had one at around 8 weeks due to possible problems, and one at 10 weeks. At 14/15 weeks I had a private one done just to see my little baby. I have my 20 (21) week scan on January 8th and then I was going to get a 4D scan done at around 30 weeks...

Am I hurting my baby?!?!?!?!?!?!?

No, research shows it is fine.

My OB does u/s as routine at just about every visit. I lost count of the number I had (though most were very fast, 5 minutes or less)... but if I had to hazard a guess, I would say I had... 12.. at least???

LO is fine! And, like I said, this is normal for my OB, who has delivered thousands of babies. I would think he would have seen a pattern by now if it were a problem.

I think the current medical advice is that there's no evidence that ultrasound does cause problems, although they can't completely rule out the possibility. For this reason they like to keep scans to a minimum, but plenty of women have to have regular scans for various medical reasons and their babies are fine, so I wouldn't worry.

I recommend everyone do their own research before making a choice either way.

No, they don't harm the baby. The technology uses sound waves, like bats use to find their way in the dark. It's not radiation or X-rays.

Its one of those things (like advice about eating peanuts) that was apparently proven to be a no no, but research now says its ok! Sooooo because of that you tend to get conflicting advice.... many women have regular scans throughout pregnancy, personally i will have had 8 by the time baby comes, its not something I am worried about though.
