Dobby look at the crib!!! I love it!!! I can't wait to see it finished.

AFM, we put peanuts mobile up yesterday... I get so excited and giddy seeing her room come together...

Oooo I love it! Very artsy! Did you make it yourself? I can't remember

I'm just irritated because I firmly wanted an espresso crib because it looks like a mini version of my bed. I had intended to buy a new dresser (both of mine are beat up and from back when I went to college and bought cheap, mismatched stuff), but it's just so expensive and looking at my registry. I know I don't need everything.... but I want everything lol. But I have to buy a new car and still have 3k of debt and I refuse to ask SO for help even though he could tell I was stressed so he tacked on $300 to his rent check just to help me. Blah. I feel like even IKEA is expensive. =\

Ugh idk what I want lol ignore the bike lol we used that room as storage for two years

Both rooms are looking great gag and Dobby! I won't have more up in our nursery until early June I think. I plan to see what we get at the shower and then purchase the rest from there, but we have our home owners insurance this month and while it really doesn't matter since it comes out of savings, DH watches our monthly budget like a hawk, so I figure it'll be easier on his stress level if we buy in June.

Dobby 3K of debt would be a dream. I'm still paying off one of my expensive grad school loans, and a smaller low interest undergrad loan. DH and I have been throwing triple the minimum at the big one though, so I think I only have a year left now . DH gets stressed out about the baby and money, but we're so far paid up on my loans that if we really need it we can skip a month and use that money on baby. I must admit having two incomes really helps with all of that. I'd still be drowning in school debt just paying the minimum if it wasn't for DH. I just heard on the radio that a family of 4 living off of one of our salaries (we make about the same) is considered low-income in Orange County. So nuts! I have a graduate degree and a great job, but the days of a single income home around here are long gone. Good news is the car will be paid off in June...just in time to put that money towards baby . I worry about DH's car though. It's been great but it does have well over 200,000 miles on it. I think I'll convince him to get a crossover at some point. Figure we'll eventually need the space if we want a second kid anyway. He's really attached to the car so going to try and let him drive it into the ground first...I might feel a bit anxious about the baby in his car though.

Oh yeah the OC is pricey. I was lucky (or unlucky depends how pissy I am that day). When my dad died, my mom set aside 200k for my older brother and myself to pay for college from his life insurance. He had told her he wanted her to have all of it to take care of us, but my mom told him that was crazy and she would set aside money for college. So I was able to stretch that money through UCLA, my teaching credential, and right up to my first job. Since I was getting the daughter rent discount, I saved up 10k my first year teaching. Was up to 17 my second year. Then I got into this annoying legal battle with an ex and the next two years I spent way too much time in court. I was too embarrassed to ask my stepdad for help, so I lost all my money and was 10k in debt. Once I paid that off, I bought this condo and my down payment assistance fell through so I had to deplete my savings then buy furniture. But my mortgage is 80% of my post tax paycheck. So whatever I paid off barely covered the interest. And I am about to get a check for being read ended early in pregnancy that could pay it off, but since I need a new car from being rear ended it's going straight to that. Meanwhile SO is like my take home pay is 7k la Dee da. Stfu lol. My stepdad says I need to see my condo as my savings account, but that doesn't help me pay the bills.

Aw a fellow UC alum! I went to UCI. It was actually the only UC I applied to bc I was dead set on going out east. I was accepted to a bunch, but when I took a hard look at the cost, I ended up staying. I don't regret it one bit. I can't imagine how much more debt I'd have if I was paying private or out of state tuition somewhere.

It's amazing how lucky and unlucky you can be all at once huh? Sorry you went through all that. Is SO helping out with baby purchases too? Seems like he should esp with what he makes. 80% is nuts, but yea I guess I'd be up at 60-70% on my own. We actually bought our condo/first home together back when we were dating years before DH proposed. The market was just starting to recover and we knew if we waited everything would be crazy expensive again. Such a great decision. I know the interest eats up so much of what you pay, but it's better than rent and if your place gains in value that can really help out down the road (until the market crashes again!).

Happy Mother's Day all!

He didn't actually want this pregnancy by the time we fell, so I feel uncomfortable asking him to help out. He offers generically, but usually I pay. What he pays in rent is pretty much what I'd get from child support. He said when the kid is older and in e.c.s or we travel that he's cover the costs for that. But money makes me uncomfortable and I hate asking for help/I did tell him he wouldn't be directly financially respond for baby.

That's so true. The rent for nearby condos is $2700 (mortgage is 2800 and his 490) so it is nice to know I'm building equity not paying rent. We're hoping to save up and move into a sfh before he hits elementary. I think our market is going to crash soon. Too many developments going up.

Awww yay! It's coming together! Love it!

We got new furniture I wasn't expecting. So threw out my ratty stuff and assembling the dresser/changer today. My friend also gave me his rocker, just needs a new cushion. I wanted everything done yesterday so I could organize today but SO couldn't understand why it was so important to me to do things yesterday and it took all my strength not to unload 31 weeks of pregnancy rage on him

Looking good gag! I just bought the final two signs I want for the walls in the nursery. They should both be here in 2-3 weeks, and then I can figure out how I want to arrange everything, get it up, and post final pics of the nursery! 6 weeks to go before I hit my due date!
