Weight gain worries at 17 weeks!

I feel like I am gaining way too much weight!!

I am about 5í2 and weighed around 126 pre-pregnancy. At just shy of 17 weeks, I am already 136lbs!!

My diet is very good (honestly I donít eat much more than pre-pregnancy, and itís healthy whole foods) and I exercise a few times a week, but it doesnít seem to matter... it just keeps piling on!

With my first, I was about 133lbs by 18 weeks, so Iím a good 4lbs ahead at this point. Yikes!

I realize it isnít recommended to diet, so I suppose there isnít much I can do???

Depends what you mean by diet really! It sounds really bad to say "I'm on a diet" while you're pregnant, but you can be on a weight-controlling diet, it just means eating very sensibly and healthily and keeping your calorie count normal (there's nothing wrong with counting calories during pregnancy if it helps you keep things in check, as long as you've chosen a healthy number of calories). Your aim isn't to lose weight, it's just to gain it at a steady pace.
I wouldn't worry too much though, I really don't think gaining 10 lbs by this point is that bad. I pretty much gained that in the first tri :/ although I'm being a lot more sensible with my eating now.
I honestly think some of the guidelines about weight gain in pregnancy are too strict. In fact I am not weighing myself and not allowing the midwives to (having explained that as a past sufferer of eating disorders, knowing exactly how high my weight has shot could set me off feeling really terrible about myself and that's not going to be good). If you feel like weighing is a good way for you to keep checking though, by all means carry on, but don't worry too much about the guidelines OR about your previous pregnancy.
Just continue to eat well, count calories for a week or so if necessary to see if you're having more than you thought, and you won't go wrong. If you seem to be piling on the pounds despite all that, then it's either bloating which is very common in pregnancy as we know, or your body laying down fat reserves for pregnancy reasons, and you will lose these once your pregnancy hormones have gone. All in all I really wouldn't panic.

I'm 18 weeks and have gained almost 20 lbs haha. I'm not too worried and my doc doesn't seem to be so meh. I mean yeah it's not ideal but it is what it is. I'm 5'7".

With my son I gained more than 80lbs! But was inly at 120 when i got pregnant. My daughter, #2 I gained 45. Shrug

I asked my doctor the same thing since I gained almost 70lbs with my son and I am terrified to gain as much weight with this one. She just said to eat healthy and make sure that I am moving around. When I get hungry I try and reach for the good stuff (fruits and veggies) rather than sweets. Its a lot easier this time around since I really crave fruits. I have gained a total of 11 lbs so far and she said that it was a good point so I am sure your doctor would tell you the same. Just make sure you aren't sitting all day.

I'm not sure what I've gained but I'm sure it's more than I would like. I'm just trying not to think about it.

I didn't gain loads with my daughter, but I stayed 14lbs+ above the pre-pregnancy weight (Not overweight though I was borderline underweight before). I've got a goal weight to work on when I'm ready after this one is born, but for now, it's at the back of my mind.

Your weight gain is fine for your height and pre pregnancy weight. Just keep active. Swimming a few times a week , 30 min walking per day at a moderate pace.

I tend to stress about this too.i gained 35-40 lbs with baby 1 and 3 and 25 lbs with baby 2. I'm starting out a little bigger this time so hoping I can keep closer to the 25 lbs again. I'm trying hard not to stress terribly as I know that doesn't help. I wish my midwife would agree not to weigh me at every appointment.. That's the worst for me for some reason lol so far I'm up 4-5 lbs which is really good for me although it's usually second trimester I really start gaining so I'm definitely nervous about it.

I refused to be weighed every time . It pissed them off at first but there's no need to be weighed at every appointment.
