please help me...im scared and cant handle anymore

i went to the dr yesterday and she found 3+ glucose in my urine- she gave me a dipstick test to take away with me and I took it this morning. The majority of the colours have stayed the same but one of them (the one up from where you hold the test) has gone purple- im really scared as I dont know what it means. I looked online and it's come up as 2 things. Ketones and Leukocyte. The dr never mentioned either of these things to me when she took the sample yesterday so its something thats just turned up this morning and Im concerned for my baby. What could it be? I read online that ketones in urine is indication of impending miscarriage I have stomache cramp and backache but the dr put that down to uterus stretching and now I have a dipstick thats gone purple. Ontop of that I dont feel baby move much. Im really frightened.

Have you eaten much today or yesterday? Ketones can also be and indication of not eating much I think and also stress.

not today and im starving... it says it can indicate miscarriage tho does anyone have any of the drs strips test to be able to tell me what the bottom colour means??? i've looked online and I cant find anything at all. my dr gave me the strip and told me to look at the 4th from the top to see if it changes colour (that was sugar) it tinted green only slightly whereas yesterday it was on plus 3, so obviously the sugar is vanishing from my body.. but now the bottom colours changed from white to purple.. i just want to know what the bottom one represents no midwives are at my surgery til 1pm and Im due a scan at 3 so what do I do if its a UTI, do I wait til next week (which is clearly not advised) or do I cancell my scan (its private)

ok firstly u are only 17 weeks so not feeling the baby move much is probably normal as most people only start feeling or have flutters at this stage.
secondly glucose and ketones can indicate your sugar levels not being good, so maybe you have GD which you might find they diagnose at a later stage. Try staying away from added sugar and too many carbohydrates and eat healthily , drink plenty of water and then see how your next urine test goes. if the doctor was worried surely she would have said somehthing?
dont panic.

thats the thing, she never mentioned anything about ketones. nothing at all, so i was not expecting to see a colour go purple. the sugar on the strip i took this morning is virtually the same, its just this bottom one thats gone whacky. Plus I have backache and crampy stomache which would also indicate UTI..I just wanna know which of the two this bottom colour represents.

I don't know hun, but I wish you the best!
Also probably you are just scaring yourself... Better wait and ask your doctor or midwife.
Good luck. We are keeping our fingers crossed for you

Go and eat something and try to calm down too! Ring another midwife unit/hospital for more info. Call Nhs direct or another doctors surgery. I'm sure they can help you understand what the strip means and try not to self diagnose, google = evil. Do you have diabetes? I've just read if you have diabetes that's very uncontrolled then you are at a higher risk of miscarriage BUT this is incredibly unlikely as you would have severe symptoms and it doesn't sound like you do. Low carb diets can lead to ketones in urine so go eat something.

i didnt have signs of diabetes at my last 2 appointments, i didnt have a trace of anything at all a week ago, but suddenly something has shown up. surely it cant just develop over night like that? i had no sugar, no protein no nothing... yesterday morning i ate loads of sugar so the midwife i spoke to after the appointment put it down to that- now ive taken this new test and i've got purple colours. Had I been showning any signs of diabetes before now the midwife would have been on it like a shot, but nothing... all was clear. Its why Im so confused. Thanks for suggesting NHS direct, I totally forgot about them.

first things first...try to calm down! Stressing out isn't going to be good for you or the baby.
I had ketones and Leukocytes in my urine for the whole duration of my second pregnancy. It was a never ending cycle. I would go to the midwife, have my urine dipsticked which would show it up. Then they would send a sample off to the hospital which would come back negative for anything.
The only thing that was wrong me was anemia.

Seriously, if you are that worried then call nhs or the midwife but please don't make yourself sick with worry. I'm sure everything will be fine x
