Im so annoyed!!

Sorry to moan all but i am so annoyed.

I have just got back from my midwife appointment, heard the baby straight away which was lovely & we went through my blood test results. Everything was very good but apparently im not immune to rubella?? cue anxiety. My midwife is a b**ch & its really annoying me , she said to avoid children under 1 & basically live in a bubble for 6 months. Has anyone else not been immune? i have googled what happens if i catch it & its really scary, i need the MMR after birth. Why wasnt i told when i had my 1st son less than 2 yars ago?

Any hooo, we went through the down syndrome tests & i have decided i dont want it & she looked at me horrified i then explained why that it wouldnt make any difference & i wouldnt abort the baby etc & what she said next was shocking

' well its your choice if you think you can cope with a child like that' wtf

i seriosuly want to change MW but shes the onlyone at the moment

Aww I'm sorry, I found out I'm susceptible to rubella and need the MMR jab after I give birth too. It is scary when you look up what happens, but the chances of you getting it are really low. I also turned down the down syndrome test for the same reason as you, also cause there is a risk of miscarriage if you have the amino thing.. Don't feel bad for it! That's why it's ma choice, plenty of people turn it down x

i didnt have any of the screening tests done, and ive never once felt guilty for it. I love my child no matter what, he could come out rainbow coloured for all I care. What matters to me is that he is happy......

Thats a shocking statement from your midwife though, and it doesnt worry me that people with that kind of attitude are in a job such as this....

I didn't have the MMR done when I was little as my brother didn't have it and was fine so my mum didn't bother with me....I told my midwife this and she checked my bloods and apparently I AM immune to it?!? Don't really see why/how??

thats a disgrace a midwife saying that. i think i would have complained "a child like that!!!!!" that is a disgrace and even worse it came from a health professional. its your baby and your choice what tests u do or dont want and she should flamin respect that. im so mad right now!!! big hugs xx

My midwife is horrible too. She makes me feel like I'm stupid and that she's way too busy for me. I wouldn't ever feel like I could ask her a question. I haven't felt like that since school so I have changed her. Haven't met my new one yet so fingers crossed.

Some people are clearly in the wrong job. What a b*tch. I seriously hope things improve for you. She sounds like a monster - it's just not right!

Your midwife sounds like a complete cow!! I didn't have the screening test either but if my midwife said that to me I probably would have slapped her!! I'd bloody well report her for saying that

Also, I'm not immune to rubella either - my midwife just told me to be careful who I get into contact with until I have the jab.

thanks all, so its more common than i thought. Of all the people you would expect to be understanding about downs syndrome it would be a midwife. I instantly said no to the tests as i just dont want to know & it annoys me how she was. Shes quite old & strict i would be so upset if she as on during my labour lol x
