Hair Shedding?? Normal?

Everywhere I've read it says you're likely to shed less hair during pregnancy and therefore have a thicking fuller looking head of hair.

I'm the opposite, I'm shedding like a shaggy dog in summer!! It's ridiculous.
Is there a reason that anyone can know of for this? Maybe I'm lacking in something (I take a Mulitvitamin for preg. and Calcium/Magnesium)...Buggered if I know, lol I'm waiting for bald patches to show!! It's nothing for me to lose in excess off 80 strands a day I reckon.

Anyone else like this?

I think everyone's hormones are a bit different. I shed a lot too...one of the reasons I like my hair super short!! :-)

I asked the MW at my OB's clinic the exact same thing, I am shedding something terrible, I even got my hair cut shorter with layers to help the problem.
With us it is caused by the added hormones with IVF, she said it may settle, it may not. I am 20wks and still shedding something shocking.

Your not lacking anything and nothing is wrong OK hun...

My mum said her hair got REALLY thick when she was pregnant with me, but mine has stayed about the same if not thinned out a little bit... It was ridiculously thick before I got pregnant, so I'm not too worried.

xx

I don;t think you need to worry, My hair has thinned loads in both pregnancies, it's a real pain as i always find strands everywhere but i never had it severe or bald patches and stopped not long after birth.

I was the same up until about 17 weeks ish I spoke to my hairdresser who is a trichologist and he said it could be just hormones but one of the biggest factors of people losing more hair than normal is anemia which is quite common in pregnancy anyways... just make sure when you have your bloods done that they check you for this. I tried to eat more green veggies and so far so good but it could just be down to my hormones levelling out a bit that its stopped....I only lose one or two when I wash my hair now wheras before when I ran my hand through it was covered in hair! quite shocking! Hope it eases off for you soon I know how sickening it is to see your hair falling out

I'm losing about the same amount of hair as I was pre-pregnancy and was also worried until I read this thread I'd heard previously that pregnant ladies stop losing hair, but suspect that everyone's hormones are different and therefore how much hair they shed will be different!
