Can coughing harm baby ?

Ino this is a bit of a silly question but I'm just a bit worried, I've got a really bad cough, I've tried drinking lots of water but it's not doing anything really, and it's keeping me up during the night as I'm constantly coughing, so I just wondered if there's a chance that this could harm baby, I've still been feeling him move but not as much as I have done, although his movement are sometimes still quite irregular at the moment as I have an anterior placenta, also does anyone know what I can take to ease the cough a bIt? Thanks

natural remedies against cough that always help me:

hot milk with honey (don't drink milk alone cause it will make your cough worse), or hot milk with carbonated mineral water (yep yep you heard it right)

hot mint tea with honey

also there's a compress that helps a lot. you simply rub pure honey to your upper chest and neck, cover this with clingy film, then cover it with cotton wrap, keep it nice and warm (it's better to do it for the whole night). usually honey is quickly absorbed through skin and cough will be gone is a day or two.

good luck!

occasional coughing, and some bad coughing wont harm the baby,

but bear in mind coughing is the effect of an underlying cause.

Coughing is the mechanism whereby the body attempts to clear an obstruction, ie in choking or in clearing mucus from the lungs.

If you have a cough you may have an infection. Your best advised to stay away from ALL COUGH MIXTURES , if you REALLY need to look for one with Dextromethorphan and stay away from ones with guaifenesin (the latter will make you nausus. Cough mixtures are really useless and dont do anything good.

The BEST way to sort out a chest infection (and Ive done this more times than I care to count) is to inhale OLBAS OIL or VICKS, in hot water, inhale through nose, out through mouth. 3 times a day, drink PLENTY OF FLUIDS, and suck on a hard candy (again all this does is force your mouth to produce saliva and hence lubricate your throat) below I have a good reciepe to try.

Most coughs take weeks to go, it is also natural to bring up colored mucus, that is your body clearing its lungs, ideally it should be clear

HOWEVER you should always seek advise from a GP, who may advise you to take antibiotics.

JAYE's PATENTED CURE OR KILL YA COUGH MEDICINE:

1> Boil hot water

2> PREPARE: a whole lemon cut in half, 30 seconds in a microwave, to soften the pulp

3> grind together in a pestle and mortar (preferably fresh, but powdered works as well), Cinamom, nutmeg, cloves, cumin seed, ginger, black pepper,
(there where a couple of other ASIAN MASALA spices, but I cant remember what they are now! )

5> into a small bowl, pour the spices mixture, and a generous helping of honey.

6> using a fork, squeeze the lemon juice into the mixture,

7> Pour in an ammount of alchol (if you can get arrack, which is a coconut based alcohol) or use your opwn favorite.

8> pour on hot water and drop a few mint leafs in,

9> leave to settle, and sip !

<oops thats a general one I use>
when your pregnant, omit things you feel you shoulnt have !
