Pregnancy Yoga/Osteopath

Hello,

I just wondered if anyone had any experience with either pregnancy yoga or using an osteopath for backpain and if they'd recommend it?

I've had bad lower back pain for about 8 weeks now, my MW has referred me to the physio but they've lost my form twice and are refusing to return my calls to try to arrange an appointment I was thinking of taking things into my own hands and trying a pregnancy specialist osteopath or tkaing up yoga to try and help as its really taking over my life now - can't sleep or do much of anything else either.

Does anyone have any thoughts? All opinions welcome

I get back pain too, but it usually means I have overworked myself.. In which case, I lay myself down on the couch and do nothing for the rest of the day/night lol.

I'm sure Lisa (Mervsmum) saw an Osteopath recently. she might be able ot help.
Hope get it sorted soon!!
Also, I find if I turn up at the place, they tend to help a bit better than waiting for calls to be returned! Maybe try that one - refuse to leave until you have the appointment!!

Yoga might be a fun/good idea anyways! It will help you strengthen your core which may help with delivery?

That's true. I used to have such good core muscles when I rowed but its all gone now. Have tried the relaxing at night thing but its got to the stage now when I need to do that at lunchtime or mid-morning so need something else.

Good idea about turning up there Kat - I might try that, just need to figure out where they hide themselves!

Hey Dizz!!

Kat's right - I went to an osteopath a few weeks ago. I've had pain in my neck and shoulder and I thought a massage might help. I rang a nice spa but they said with me being pregnant an osteopath would be better.

He was really good - fortunately I was still just about small enough to lay on my tummy for some of it but he say it didnt matter - just made it easier for him. It worked but it has come back recently and of course its expensive to keep going. I asked my m/w and she referred me for maternity acupuncture, which is what the osteopath said he'd try if it came back. My appointment is on friday so I'll let you know how it goes.

If you do see someone he's my top tip.....dont turn up in a maternity dress...and if you do wear matching underwear.....or you could find yourself in your undies infront of an impossibly good looking man feeling very concious of your massive hooters!!!!!

I would definitely try the yoga at the very least. There are some stretches that really help with back pain!!!
