the doctor thinks i'm going to have my baby early..

I'm due on christmas day, but the doctor thinks i'm going to have my baby early because of my size! I'm 5'1, and 114 pounds (was 106 prepregnancy) and she said because i'm so skinny and small framed there's no way ill go til my due date. she said "a tiny little thing like you ill be surprised if you make it past the first week of december"

i've never heard of this because. she didnt sound worried at all the anything would happen too soon so i'm certainly not stressing about it. but do smaller people really have their babies sooner?

Hi

not necessarily. I know some extremely petite ladies (in height and weight) and they always go overdue....

My friend is VERY small - not even 5ft and she had to have caesarean's with both her babies as she is too little, hip wise, to actually birth them. But her C-sections were scheduled normally and no mention was made to her about going early because she was small.

Nah what nonsense!

My friend is 4'11" and she was absolutely massive with her son, he weight about 9lb 6oz at birth and she ended up having to have a c-section because he was so big but he didnt come early!

I started at 5' 5" and 115 lbs. I delivered both of my earlier babies at term. My DD was 5lbs 5oz and my son was 6lbs 14oz. I may have 4" on you but honestly that isn't much. I wouldn't put too much into what your Dr just said. My DD was 2 days early and my son was a week early. I have a friend who is 5' and weighed 98lbs before getting pregnant and was a week and a day over due with her first and 4 days over due with her second. Both were 7lbs 2oz and 7lbs 6 oz.

I'm exactly as tall as you and pre pregnancy weighed 1 less pound! I haven't been told anything like this, but I will be asking next time I see my midwife ...

That's nonsense. I'm 5'3", with my first pregnancy, I was 94 lbs to start with, and 106 lbs. starting the second pregnancy. I didn't go into early labor. My labors were both induced 3 days early, and a week early, respectively. I will tell you that I walked around with my cervix dilated 3-4 cm for weeks beforehand, with both babies. Still didn't go into preterm labor. I don't know where your dr. came up with that.

Hun your doc seems pretty rude to say something like that.

My MIL is 4'9 and was sooo petite, she carried to full term (my hubby and SIL - both were big babies too)

Just stay positive and take care of yourself.. good luck
