Can't get comfy at night :-(

Hi ladies.

Is anybody else finding that they just cannot get comfy at night? Eventually I do seem to fall to sleep on my belly but that is after I have tossed and turned for 3 hours Also when I lay on my right side it is quite painful. I miss being able to get in bed and fall to sleep straight away! At least my baby girl seems to enjoy it when I get in to bed though, especially at 3am :-D

x

I think I might have to invest in a pregnancy pillow too. I may use it to hit my other half with too if he keeps snoring So it will be double worth the money lol!
Every morning at 3am me and baby are awake, it is a great feeling xx

How strange - 3am is our kicking time too! Also two of my pregnant friends wake up around the 3am mark and baby is kicking! We should set up a 3am poll!

I'm also finding it tough to sleep, I have a pregnancy pillow but it's not helping. Whichever position I get into something starts to hurt! Oh dear.

I have a rolled-up blanket for support and I seem to wake up every morning in the same position (blanket between knees, under tum and hugged tight) but somehow I cannot just fall asleep in that position.
It is nice to spend some time just lying in bed and feeling the bump wiggle but like you it seems to take hours to fall asleep. My eyes are beginning to look bruised and I am getting grumpy and impatient... It's more DH I feel sorry for

Why sleeping on the right hurts more than the left?

Hi ladies!!

I found out from my midwife that it's not so comfy to sleep on your right side as your left, as there is more organs to squash on the right side of your body! Of course why didn't I think of that!?

I also have the baby bump kicking me at around 4am to get up and move around as soon as I get up to pee he goes straight back to sleep!!

I have tried pillows and all sorts, even draping myself on the other half, but No joy on the comfort front either!

I'm now 28 weeks gone and am finding that sitting up is very uncomfortable too, even more than sleeping, Baby is pushing all my organs up and giving me serious heart burn, and back ache around the kidney area.

I have been advised to sit forward on my elbows with my knees 10 cm lower than my hips (a bit like one of those orthopaedic chairs) and this will help with the heart burn, back ache and for getting baby in the correct position for birth!!
Too many babies being born back to back and this means allot of us ladies are sitting back and relaxing far too much, All very interesting stuff learnt at an antenatal day. Midwife's are brill!

If any one has any other golden nuggets of why we are soo darn uncomfy ( other than the big old bump) or any other ways to get comfy that would be great!! good luck to all!

Oh yes I have barely slept in the past few weeks because I can not get comfy and I am in a lot of pain in bed. Midwife said today it might be SPD and is sending me to PT because of the pain in bed and the pain while moving, etc. I just want to get a good nights sleep!!

I have the pregnancy pillow.. although it is great.. I enjoyed it a lot more earlier in the pregnancy and now it's so hard to fall asleep even with the snoogle (preg pillow).. my ribs feel like they're being crushed if I lie on my side.. baby kicks hard if I sleep on tummy.. I can't sleep on back (not recommended).. so really out of options..

the only comfy position i find is to lay on my right side.
Used to be a left sleeper but lately if i sleep on my left...i dont sleep properly and end up with a headache.

When not pregnant i wake at least 4 times a night for the loo....however since sleeping on my right i only wake up once for the loo, and have a peaceful sleep x
