Midwife prediction of gender - heartbeat

I had my 4 monthly check up today with my midwife & she listened to the baby's heartbeat and is predicting it to be a girl because of the speed of the heartbeat.

Has anyone else heard of this and if so has it worked for anyone?

They say there is no scientific proof for this theory... although... my baby's heartbeat is a calm 140 bpm and I can't help thinking I'm having a boy :P We will try to find out in mid-October during our 20 week scan.

I'm fascinated that midwives keep going with this. Several scientific studies have completely debunked this myth. Try googling it!

I dunno...my baby's heartbeat was pretty fast... over 150. At my 20 week scan while the tech was looking for the gender, I asked her what the heartbeat was and she said it was like 153 or something like that. Then she said thats pretty average for a 20 week fetus and it doesnt predict gender. My baby is a boy. :-)

Hmm my midwife asked if we knew what we were having. We said no. Then she listened to hb and predicted a girl. Oh wasn't happy that she made a prediction when she knew we didn't want to know!! Doh!!

Well my babys heartbeat at 12 week scan was 160bpm.... not sure what it was today but it was very fast! Lol. A few of my friends have text me today saying that their midwives predictions in the past was right as well... I find out for sure on 20th October. How spooky though! I googled it and it said that the heartbeat has been known of a way to tell x

mine's was 150 at my 12+6 scan and the tech predicted boy based on something she thought she saw.. At home on the doppler the heartbeat hovers right around 135-140. We find out for sure on Oct 15th at our 20 week scan. I will be shocked if it turns out to be a girl. Thrilled, but shocked
