Buying things now and peoples attitude...

Evening All!

I've had a great weekend - a very tired one but i've managed to do the housework which is a start!!

So, i'm only just into 2nd trimester and this is our first baby, so naturally we are as excited as possible and have saved hard for all the bits and bobs.

We went to a mothercare event today and ended up buying all the nursery furniture and the pram that we wanted.

The thing is, the other day I was telling my lady workers (Who have grown up children now) that my mother has kindly bought me the moses basket that I wanted and they were a bit like "What so you've already got a moses basket and have brought it home already?" Almost like as if it was a bit too early???

I usually tell them everything but after our purchases today i'm wondering should I keep that information to myself?

I'm not the only one who has bought things already am I??

xx-xx

I'm with you. I am buying things already and have been doing since my 12 week scan.
I'm not in any way superstitious though, and many people are and won't have baby things in the house until right near the end of pregnancy. I'd rather be prepared though.

I love getting stuff for the baby. Especially as you can take advantage of events and offers if you plan ahead x

hiya no your not the only ones who have bought stuff!! we are just over 16 weeks and have got lots of bits including the cot, moses basket, bouncer chair, lots of clothes etc etc!!

Funny that how they are reacting at your work as a lot of the older women (with kids may I add) have said the same at my work!!

Ive found myself holding back from telling anyone anything, as they make me feel like im doing something wrong, and they find it something of great amusement everytime they find out i bought something else.

not much help i know, but I've decided not to tell people who cant just be happy for me! why not but things now if you find something you like or a find a bargain!!

No - I started buying little bits - well I got the crib at about 15 weeks as it was a deal on ebay - they're just overly supersticious - don't listen to them.

Buy away hun, it is sensible to pick up bits as you go along/see them on
offer and in sales.
If you waited till right at the end, you'll be to big and knackered to walk around
the shops all day buying everything, and at least it spreads the cost over the
9mths instead of 1 or 2 months, and you can take advantage of all the offers/events
and sales over the best part of a year.
I have literally everything now, including his clothes in newborn/0-3/3-6 & 6-9mths.
I did have some equipment left from my daughter though, like cot and highchair.
All i need to buy now is new mattress.

If you buy early, you can spend the last couple of months catching up on 'me time'
before bubs arrives, get your hair done, go for a meal with OH, shopping
with friends ect, get your last minute hospital bag/maternity pads/breast pads ect.

Its your baby and totally up to you when and what you want to buy, why do people feel the need to say negative things and put a downer on things. Enjoy every minute of spending ive started getting unisex clothes and once I know the sex there will be no stopping me.
