We're on team.... (Edited: Good questions for 20 wk scan) - update Pg 3

Hi everyone!

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow (yay! ) and I've been meaning to make a list of questions I need to ask. From previous experience, I know I will forget unless I make this list. So can you help remind of stuff you asked or wish you asked at your 20 week scan?

- Gender (doh!)
- Position of placenta
- Is baby positioned optimally i.e. not breach?
- Are my fibroids getting in the way? I have four.

What am I forgetting?

Edit:

Suggestions so far from the helpful ladies on this forum -

- ask what size the baby is
- ask what the heart rate is
- ask that all the organs are ok
- ask what all the abbreviations on the printed report they give you mean

I wish I'd asked how many beats per minute baby's heart rate was. Not that it's important I just wanted to know, and they didn't tell me and I forgot to ask.

Hope you have a grea time at the scan btw, and that everything looks perfect *hugs*

This is such a good thread! I came away from the 12 week scan kicking myself that I hadn't asked more, but after being told I could ask questions when it was finished (the girl said she couldn't concentrate if she was talking....) my mind then went blank!

I was just saying to the friend who's coming to the 20 week scan with me that I'd put together a list of Qs and she'd have to ask them while I turn into a speechless numpty again! lol

I know I didn't start this thread, but thanks for the suggestions so far. I've noted them down.

The poor tech I had, I asked a million questions and started to feel bad. I asked everything on your list so far, plus I asked about his heart and brain I just had to know those looked absolutely normal. I am still waiting on my doctor to call me back about the actual measurements, so you may want to get those too Good Luck at your scan.

I think you've pretty much covered it, but agree that you should try to get the measurements. Really just ask that everything is ok, placenta, kidneys, brain, blood flow in heart and umbilical cord.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the baby's position as it is likely to change many times over the next few weeks. You'll know what I mean because you will feel it change! x

Good luck with the scan.
