worried I've done some harm (benadryl)

When I first got pregnant I was having trouble sleeping b/c I came off medication I was taking for insomnia anyway ( I have multiple sclerosis and sleep is an issue for me) anyway the doc prescribed me benadryl b/c it contains the same ingredient as some over the counter sleep aids and it worked a treat so I've been taking a benadryl every night since about 5 weeks.
I went to the doc today to get a repeat and both of the docs said they won't prescribe any antihistamines b/c they don't like to in pregnancy

this is the doc that originally prescribed it for me! (this was all through the receptionist, I didn't see the doc myself)

I asked the receptionist if I'd done any harm and she said no you'll be okay but I'm shitting myself now that I've harmed my baby

I wouldn't worry at all. A lot of women with allergies take benadryl their entire pregnancy. It is on my safe list of meds from my OB. I don't think it would be there if it wasn't safe.

Well that is rubbish! I am just coming off my anti sickness tablets and the ones i was one for the longest were actually just strong antihistamines. I also take benadryl for allergies and did with my daughter too. Don't worry hun, all will be fine xx

I actually visited a high risk doctor last Friday (he is truly the best around) he told me it is very safe to take Benadryl during pregnancy to help sleep. Just don't abuse it and you will be fine.
