Do sperm die once they hit air?


I read this somewhere and was just wondering if its true? Also, could i of had a proper heavy period the day i after i concieved? Cause my scan dates are different from the dates me and my bf thought i concieved (only days we had unprotected sex in that cycle, which was the 14thday) im confused! X

I dont think it does. It you do a sperm sample at home you have about an hour or so for it to be stored.

Drs/hospitals don't go off conception dates, they go off your LMP. Conception date is hard to pin down even if you know date of sex, as it is likely that sperm meeting egg took a few days. So your dates for this pregnancy will start when you last had AF. So you kinda get two extra weeks of pregnancy without being pregnant.

ohh right so the dating scan will add on the 2 weeks aswell? I thought it went on size of baby, mine was 79mm x

Yes the scan measurements should match roughly to your LMP. Howver bear in mind implantation can take up to 7-10 days and throw dates off slightly. HTH!

79mm works out at roughly 14 weeks from what I can find xx

okay yeah cause the doc said i was 14w from LMP then the dating scan said exact same which i thought would of meant i concieved on first day of my last period, when i didnt have sex around that time lol. Thanks! Xx
