tonsil stones

right i keep getting these nasty little things no matter how much i clean my mouth and use special mouthwash
ive been on 2 courses of antibiotics, ive tried gargling with salt water and everything else so i think my last option is to get my tonsils taken out as i can not put up with it much longer its horrible
does anyone know if its safe to get your tonsils removed during pregnancy?

urgh its so horrible. i never used to get them and then all of sudden earlier in the year i started getting them, i looked at my tonsils and they have really deep crypts in which i think is why. do you just leave them to go on their own then?

Not sure about how safe it is to have them out but just wanted to sympathise with you. I suffered with them for over 10 years and they are horrible Everytime I went to see the Doctor they had gone and they said there was nothing they could do - Useless!!

I still have a big hole in one of my tonsils but for some reason they just stopped appearing..

I have them too and they're awful and so smelly! At least there's no harm in them, just completely annoying. I'm a bit obsessed with trying to coax them up my throat cuz sometimes I can feel them stuck somewhere in there for days. And then once they're out I'm obsessed with squishing them. I don't know why but I get a sense of accomplishment as if I'm killing them like bugs. lol but so gross!

I used to get them all the time - I was so relieved when I found out other people had them too & I wasn't just a total weirdo! They are yucky I agree! They seem to have stopped recently, not sure why!

I would do that too, because mine were always scratchy, I sometimes made my throat bleed I worked at them for so long

I've always gotten them but I've been getting them more and more since I've gotten pregnant. Sometimes they actually make me puke when they pop out Soooo the solution I' have gotten is that I squeeze them out every day when brushing my teeth and it prevents them from building up huge. You can either use the back of your toothbrush or your finger or a q-tip, whatever works for you but other than removing your tonsils, there's no way to fix it.

Plus, even removing your tonsils may not work 100% depending on how far back the tonsil pits go......so not worth the risk during pregnancy to be honest.

I have them really bad as well. Sometimes it affects my ability to swallow food or even drink fluids. I vomit a lot and sometimes feel really dehydrated. I believe its an infection of the tonsils and somehow gets worse during pregnancy. I would suggest that you still speak with a dentist or ENT dr.
