Advice after midwife visit - measuring 23 weeks but 26 weeks? 3 scans booked HELP!
Would like some advice from everyone who has had similar visits to the midwife:
1. Measured my fundus - 23 weeks but I am 26 weeks pregnant
2. 21 week scan said measuring all ok, babies stomach/abdomen slightly bigger than average.
She said she wasn't worried about the baby but because I am a small frame 5ft 2 inches, 8 st 1 before that she wants me to have 3 scans at 28,32, and 36 to measure baby and just in case it the baby grows big (as its stomach is above average) and being big may cause problems for me trying to give birth naturally! I also have a very slightly bigger thyroid gland noted by by own doctor so she said have a thyroid function test at 28 weeks just in case - so those were the 2 reasons to do the scans.
Still feel a bit stressed even though people say the fundus measurement isn't so accurate and scans are best! HELP, ADVICE NEEDED!!!!
Any advice - is the measuring by the midwife accurate
Aww! well sounds like maybe your due date is a bit off it could be just a week off! my doc said that in 2nd tri you have to be 2 weeks off (smaller or bigger) for them to change your due date, doesn't mean anything is wrong with baby just may come a week or 2 later than expected. I am 23 weeks but measuring at 22 almost 23 which my doc explained is because my baby is in the smaller range as I am not short but my body is very petite he is also petite . my due date hasn't been changed cause it is only a five day difference at my 16 weeks he was measuring 16 weeks and now hes fallen a bit behind cause he is smaller but with that many weeks (3 in the second tri) I am sure your due date is just a bit off! so don't worry !
when i was about 28 wks i was measuring small, this went on til i gave birth to a 7lb 1oz baby boy, i knew my fundal height was off to the right but they just measured in a straight line, with my dd i was spot on every time but she was only 5lb 9oz so i dont think they are that accurate.
I measured big too - 29 weeks at almost 26 weeks. We had an ultrasound and baby's normal sized (50th percentile). So not sure what the problem is and I have to wait to see my doc next week to find out....
hey hun..now stop worrying!! ok i was told the same thing with my second daughter.. measuring 5 weeks behind!!! she came out at 7pds 9 oz. haha. i was measuring bigger with my son who was 6 pds 11 oz. i was so freaked out too. take a deep breath and get back to whatever you were doing. even the midwife isn't concerned.
