18 pounds in 18 weeks! Help!

I've gained 18 lbs in 18 weeks. I'm trying to watch what I eat but the weight seems to pile on even though the baby only weighs like 9 oz.

I'm 5'6" and weighed 128 to begin with and am now at 146. Is this healthy???

PS- it feels like I gained a bunch of weight in my thighs. Good grief!

i've gained about 19 in 20 weeks, everyone gains different amounts of weight. i eat a lot but i'm small so i was also advised to gain quite a bit of weight. i'm happy, glad to know my baby's healthy. i was a bit concerned at first too though.

I know what you mean! With my son I gained like 18 pounds the whole pregnancy and he was a big boy so lost it all within a week or two... with this one I gained 9 pounds by my 13-14 week appt... I told the nurse I was sure the scales were broken I havent ate any more then before I was pregnant probably less in first trimester because I was either sick or full feeling all the time, so no idea how this happened. Going to try to just watch for the rest of the pregnancy to keep it to a minimum

so you're 3 pounds above average..whoopdeedooo. At this rate you may gain 35 pounds which is still average. I meant this to be encouraging. lol.

If you're concerned just focus on eating more vegetables and fewer refined carbs like pastas/breads. Make sure the grains you eat are whole grains. In the end you'll gain what you should as long as you aren't eating the wrong things

I have gained between 40-60 pounds with each pregnancy (the 60 was with twins, the 40 was 5 weeks early), so average of 50 pounds. It is what it is.

By 20 weeks, I had gained 10 kg, so about 22 pounds. Don't sweat it, sweetie.
