Did Shettles method work for you?

Hi,

Popping in a week early but I know I'll get better results here, just a bit of fun really to pass the time before my gender scan next month. Just wondered if Shettles worked for you?

I'd love this one to be a little girl just so I have one of each flavour (I only want two childrne.... for now ) but after reading up about Shettles it's most likely to be a boy (which of course I don't mind either) but I'm reading mixed results from google whether it has worked or not. Just wondering if it worked for you?

I THINK it worked for us....didn't read his book or anything but based on what the internet said we tried for a girl and that's what we are having.

I'd be interested to know also, althoiugh we didn't know about this until afterwards, it would give me an indication of whether it's a boy or girl.

I read that the Shettles method has been disproven. It's more likely to be your diet that can sway the odds.

Ohh interesting, I'm going to have a read. Personally I still sway towards the 'its all down to chance' method but I love guessing.

I think Shettles tend to be reported as working more than 50% of the time as people use it with different levels of seriuosness. Some people follow it religuosly, some just dabble. If you just dabble and get the gender you want you will tell everyone "I used Shettles and it worked". If you dabble and don't get the preferred gender you will probably not mention it and kind of forget you even used it.

Me and OH DTD on the Monday, Tuesday and Friday of the week I concived. I Ov'ed on the Friday and we got a girl.

I think you've kinda said exactly what I'm thinking out loud. As it's only 50/50 anyway I wonder just how much is happy coincidence. It would be nice to think we could swing towards gender selection though, although I'm secretly hoping it's not true in my case

I thought more people might reply but I'm guessing it's not as popular as I though.

I think the timing thing worked for us.With my 1st we had a boy, didn't do anything to sway that.
2nd time I thought it would be nice to have a 2nd boy so used ovulation kits,we didn't have sex until I got my lh surge and only had sex day before, day of and day after ovulation. We had our 2nd son!
With my 3rd(this pregnancy)we were hoping for a girl,so had sex about a wk before ov,again 5 days before ov and then 3 days before ov.We were supposed to leave it at that, but did end up having sex day of ovulation also,so with this 1 I reckoned we were 50/50.Found out just before xmas its a girl!
I didn't alter my diet at all,and when I looked up what a 'girl' diet was It was hardly anything I would usually eat,So it was definately the timing thing that worked for us.Or was it just chance??who knows!!!
And may I just say, although we tried to sway things a little,I would have been 100% happy with a healthy baby of either gender every time!!!
