DH is a pastor so I'm biased towards church and the importance of regular attendance but those ladies acted in a totally inappropriate manner. They were outright rude. It doesn't matter if you're speaking the truest truth in the whole wide world, if you are going to be rude and patronizing you might as well be saying "garbage monkey bum" or some other nonsense. And as much as I love church, you shouldn't go just for the sake of going. And I agree, just the mere act of being in a church doesn't make you a Christian. You need it live out your beliefs throughout the week. I'm on bed rest so I haven't been able to go to church in months. And that doesn't make me less of a Christian.

Sorry you had to endure that.

A church is not the building it is the people in it.
It is not what you're 'seen' to be doing it is what's in your heart. God knows what's in your heart that's all that matters.
The ladies who gave you grief are committing sin themselves for what they're saying to you. If God is in their heart they would not have said anything at all to you. Be safe in the knowledge God knows what's inside of you!

Amazing in such a modern world people still turn to religion! I think I live in a very atheist world, it's very science orientated around here (Cambridge) I actually (bar my grandmother who probably isnt the best advocate for religion) dont know anyone who is religious!

As a christian I am appalled!!! Did they miss the part in the Bible about he who is without sin can cast the first stone??? ARGH! These people alone are why many people avoid church....they want nothing to do with the hippocrasy (spelling?). God IS LOVE.....He is not church, He is not about deeds (again, in the Bible).....He knows our hearts! Sorry these women were horrible to you.....it is so uncalled for, so unnecessary and does nothing to help you walk stronger in your faith. and more

Thank you all for your responses...like I said earlier, I was so afraid someone would bash/judge me on here...(probably b/c I was already hurt and didnt want to get bashed again)

I should of known better..I love BnB...you ladies are the best!!!

You made me feel so much better(my M&M's did too hehe) It's just very comforting to know that I'm not the only one who feels this way...religion is such a touchy topic as it is, I was so afraid I was going to offend someone, which I DEF did not want to do...

Again, thank you all so much!! Y'all will never know how much your words mean to me... I hope one day I can give you all support and repay my graditiude..

love you all

Thank you hun, so much!!! I guess the part that upset me the most was bringing my daughter into the mix....We read the bible to her every night before she goes to sleep.then she prays...when she gets older, she can make her own choice whether she wants to go to church or not!! I am truly appalled also!! And what you said about the hippcrasy(I dont know how to spell it either..LOL) is 100% DEAD ON!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels that way!!

they made it out like I was wearing a shirt saying "I DON'T GO TO CHURCH, SO I DONT BELIEVE IN GOD"....I mean seriously? and even if I personally seen someone with such a shirt or them telling me that, I could care less, it's their personal opinion and belief...people need to learn to be a little more open minded about religion...I am a Christian (Southern Baptist) but I would NEVER and I mean NEVER judge someone who believes something different than me..and basically thats what they were doing...ya know? ugh...Like I said, I def dont want my daughter around people like that, where she thinks that is acceptable...

ugh at the rude, crude, cruel and inconsiderate people in this world!!

Thank you hun!

I seem to remember a scripture that says "Judge not lest ye be judged" Apparently those old biddies didn't think this applied to THEM. God is the only judge. Period. They need to mind their business. I can't stand holier than thou people. GRRRRRRR. And who the heck wants to go to church only out of FEAR? That makes no sense to me whatsoever.. Don't let those people get you down. And good for you for standing up for yourself!

I am so gobsmacked on your behalf that anyone could be so judgemental and rude.

It is different in the UK but I have experienced a couple of similar things, one was my ex's Mother who went to church every week but was the least Christian and giving person I've ever met. I was also told by someone else that if I didn't have my baby christened and it died it would be in purgatory forever and I thought that any god that wouldn't love my baby which is completely innocent I didn't want to know that god.

I am not a believer in god, but I do believe I am giving and think of others, what I think is morally right might not match what many other people believe but I don't force my opinions on others.

I'm not surprised you were upset by what she said, you are doing the right thing living in the way you believe is right and as you said, going to church doesn't make you a christian. I think if I did have faith I would believe god was all around us in nature and every where and not in a church once a week.

x

any good christian knows it's not right to judge others, we are supposed to obey by the golden rule! "Treat other as you wish to be treated" Who do these people think they are?
Sheesh, I wouldn't give them the time of day and to be honest, they are not worth you getting upset over. I am so sorry to hear they subjected you to this.

Big hugs
