Wow I'm not sure what I would have done to be honest. That's horrible of anyone to talk to someone like that. I never grew up in the church and I'm still learning. I don't believe you have to go to church every Sunday to prove anything. We attend service a couple times a month and our children go to Sunday school every week and attend confirmation classes. But to be honest no one in my family attends church nor do any of my friends and I would never judge any of them. I think you need to do what you feel is right for your family situation and what you believe in. If I had talked to someone the way those women talked to you...I would be so ashamed of myself.

Religion is a touchy subject so I'll say my piece and then be done....

I think you were completely right. faith is a personbal choice and how you worship is another personal choice. Faith is supposed to give you strength guidence, hope etc. and however you find your way to that is important. It's a personal connection between you are your god. I'm not christian, I'm pagan (no judgements please, I don't worship the devil, I don't even believe in it, I don't do harm or cast curses etc. I worship the goddess and nature, and put out good into the world) but from what I understand about christianity as long as you accept Jesus as your savior, believe in the holy ghost, and are an all together good person in life you'll get into heaven. Jesus and his teachings were all about forgiveness not judgement, which these women were obviously not grasping the point of. So good for you for standing your ground!

You are exactly right....100%!!! I just dont understand these women....who knows what they would say to you, being of a different religion....I personally, dont care what religin someone believes in, it's their personal choice...and if their religion makes them happy then, I'm happy for them..!!

ahh..It kills me how people are so judgemental when they have no right to be...

I AM sooo happy I std up for myself, instead of running with my tail tucked, which normally I do(to avoid confrentation)...but she said something about MY daughter, whom is 3 years old, whom she has NO buisness talking about, so my mama bear instinct came out...

and my Husbands grandmother is pagan, btw...lol

Eeek! too bad their religion doesnt teach, kindness, patience and understanding... or at the very least the rule they should have learned when they went to elementary school
If you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all!

who knows, maybe their religion does teach to love others and to be kind ect... but it doesnt seem to have sunk in to their brains yet!

Try not to let them upset you too much, they obviously have a lot to learn about many things, first of all basic common decency and respect. Hopefully one day they will learn!

I went to church this past Sunday for the first time in a while. My DH was raised Mormon, and I was raised Baptist. He doesn't practice his religion though, but his family does very much. I consider myself "Christian" but don't really want to put a denomination on my belief, and I completely agree. I finally found a church where I feel comfortable b/c MANY, MANY people claim to be strong "Christians" but prove otherwise by their actions, i.e. those women who attacked you at the store! I don't get it. I don't judge people who decide not to go to church, heck, I don't go often enough as I should! DH and I plan on taking Connor to my church, but all in all we just want him to know God on a personal level and not feel "pressured" to go to church every Sunday. Don't worry about those women.. they may consider themselves "Christians" but they are so obviously proving otherwise.

This is exactly why I stay well away from religion, sorry you had to be on the end of that. I don't buy any of it so if she had a go at me I'd start on my evolution rant and then I think she'd shut up rather quickly. I love your come back though about the car and the garage, very quick thinking.

thats just awful. What is it with some eldery people? They say ooo the younger generation have no respect for their elders. Hmmmm i wonder why?

Im sorry to hear u were made to feel bad by these horrible people. Thats not christian at all. Im not religious in the slightest but i respect and have knowledge of others beliefs and from what i can gather simply just going to church doesnt make u a better person, its what u do for your community outside of church too.

U have taken the time to teach your child about god and u clearly have faith, thats all that matters. U r a better person than those judging ladies dont let them upset u. Xx

gypsymom, out of all the religions beliefs and faiths i have studied paganism is the one i know least about but it interests me the most. It seems like something i could agree with the most, doing what u feel is right as long as it causes harm to none. I know many people associate paganism with black magick, devil worship and curses which i find rather ignorant. I do love learning about what others believe in its a very interesting subject.
