Fundal height

At 24 weeks pregnant whereabouts should the top of your uterus be in relation to your belly button?

I've got a soft tape measure here but wasn't exactly sure where to measure from on my pelvis to work out fundal height, does anyone know?

at 20 weeks its meant to be at your belly button so yours will probably be slightly higher, I lay down and use the karate chop side of my hand move it up and down to feel the difference, the uterus is a little harder, I'm crap at explaining but you should notice a difference when you feel it x

i google it! hehe, if you google fundal height, and then go to images, theres lots of pictures about where your fundal height should be at this time, but it should be roughly 24cms from your pubic bone.

Thanks girls. Bugger, my fundal height appears to be 16cm :-/ At least on the plus side I know she measures at least 18+1 as she measured that at my 22+2 scan. God I can't wait to get a date through for the first of my growth scans so I can find out if she's actually grown at all or not since then.

I just measured mine and at 22w1day I am about 22cm. My personalised growth chart says I should be 24 cm at 24 weeks. This is for an average sized baby since its predicting my baby's weight will be on the 50th percentile.

Do you have a personised growth chart for your LO? I was given on at my 12 week scan and it explains how to measure your fundal height and gives the baby's estimated weight and the mum's estimated fundal height for 24 weeks to 40 weeks.

I dont think its always accurate as I was measuring small with my first and was sent for an extra scan and when he was born on the 49th percentile so he wasnt small in the end.

My doctor said your fundal height should always be within two cm of the week you are. For instance Im 24 weeks so mine should be between 22 and 26 cm.
Also, Im 24 weeks and my uterus is a good ways above my belly-button. I know we arent all the same. Is your doctor changing your due date if your baby is measuring small? I feel like maybe you have another thread or something that explains that so sorry if I sound dense. Hope you get a nice big bump soon!

Rydia: I don't think they use personalised growth charts up here, it's just the standad AC/HC/FL charts printed in the back of your maternity notes.

Marineswife: My due date won't be changed as it is correct it's just her measurements are weeks and weeks behind.
No you aren't being dense at all, we are currently waiting to find out if she has a very rare chromosome abnormality that could be causing a lot of problems and if the growth issue is not down to that then it is prob down to a medical condition I have that can cause severe iugr but either way the sonographer said her measurements are worryingly small so we've just got to wait for the genetic results back and then I'll start getting regular growth scans (either every 2 or 4 weeks) to keep a very close eye on her and check that she is in fact actually still growing.

Thats too bad they dont do a chart for you. Although maybe considering that mine just predicts that bump will weigh the same as my DS dont think its much more than just guess of the baby's size lol.

Sorry that you have to wait so long for a scan to see how your girl is doing Fingers crossed that she is healthly and just really small.
