Sharp Stabbing Pains

I need some advice please as driving myself nuts with worry!

Since yesterday I've been getting really severe sharp stabbing pains in my uterus - about and inch to the right and 2 inches down from my belly button and they're really scaring me. I'm 18 weeks and I've had round ligament pain on and off for a while and this feels really different to that and in a different place. Has anyone had anything similar? Thanks ladies.

I think I'm having the same thing as you. The sharp stabbing pains really hurt. It's probably just your uterus stretching, but mention it to your midwife when you see her next x

I've had the same - might be best to get yourself checked out though if it's persistant. It could be a urinery tract infection, wich isn't serious but can cause alot of pain if left untreated. If it's not that, it's probably just the urterus stretching and growing.

Good luck! x

I've had sharp stabbing pains in what feels like my cervix on and off for the last month or so, but I'm pretty sure it's just gas pain. I think it just feels like my cervix because it's deep in my body. Maybe it could be the same with you? My doctor shrugged it off when I told her about it.

I had that last night and called the midwife straight away in a panic - due to go for 20 weeks scan at 21 weeks on Friday so the slightest thing is worring me at the moment. She said it sounded like a pulled stomach muscle to her - probably can be explained by the fact that I was carrying laundry baskets up and down the stairs yesterday! She told me to take paracetamol and have a warm bath. It does seem to have eased a lot today. The other thing she said was that as long as I'm still feeling normal movement from LO we should both be fine, but call again if I was worried.

I had the same at 19 weeks, just after Easter. It lasted on and off for 3 days and when the stabbing pains came they were so bad I was doubled over. Even traveling in the car was really uncomfortable when going over bumps etc.

I called the Dr's (it was during all the bank holidays) and he said as long as I didn't have any signs of a urine infection (ie raised temperature, pain when peeing etc) then I should be OK. I am 22 weeks now and haven't had it again. My scan a week afterwards was fine too thankfully. I have since put it down to growing pains, but it really was quite painful. Hope yours settles soon.
