Got a tooth pulled and I'm in SO much pain. What do you recommend?

I had a tooth pulled Thursday at 6:30 and was fine until the novocaine wore off.. then I felt like I got punched in the face. My jaw hinge is sore and immobile from the novocaine needles (he used like 9!) and the hole itself is KILLING me.

I've tried my hardest not to go overboard but I've taken tylenol every four hours and I'm just scared I'm taking too much.

I've been icing like crazy too and it's not helping.. and I have the worst ear pain on the extraction side.

I wanna go back to get it checked out but since it's Sunday I wouldn't be able to until tomorrow anddd I'm working tomorrow 10-6 so that's a no go. And I would LIKE to have a bearable amount of pain for work tomorrow instead of excruciating.

Should I go to urgent care? I dunno what they would do because it's not like we can take anything for pain.

I legit had a mental breakdown and started screaming and crying yesterday... I just want MOTRIN

I cracked a tooth and my OB prescribed me a low dose of vicodin, 500 mg of vicodin with 250 mg of tylenol - that did the trick for me Obviously only short term, but it works well

They do but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to use it on an open wound

Tooth pain is agonizing, I've had horrible migraines for years and even those don't compare with the pain I've gotten from my wisdom teeth before I got them pulled You could try Oragel or Anbesol, but honestly in my experience I had to use it WAY more often that directed for it to be of any help - the low dose vicodin gave me total relief for about 6-8 hours at a time which was amazing- and since they lasted so long I only had to take two a day

Ugh I didn't even think about the open wound part, yeah I wouldn't put that on an open wound ./cringe

I just looked it up and it's as I suspected .. anbesol/orajel are definitely a no-go on extraction sites and will burn like a mofo.. plus I feel like it wouldn't do much since the pain is more in the bone rather than the hole iykwim.

I don't want to go to urgent care because A) $25 copay b) My Mum always picks on me because I can't handle pain.

I don't want to call my on-call OB because they seem to get annoyed if I'm not going into labor or something..

SO worth the co-pay in my book, if the pain is bad enough you will go

I would tell my mom to shove it, but I'm rude like that

Lol good point. I guess that's my only option, but I feel silly going to a medical place for a dental issue. I wish my OB wasn't so rude and didn't make me feel like an idiot for calling about things that aren't related to me going into labor. Grrr
